Adding all kind of firmwares is impossible task. Priority list is needed.

About quickpet. Well....to change the Lucid Puppy or Slacko code made by 01micko. Just check the code inside the quickpet scripts, and ask yourself, would you like to start changing it for Dpups. I am not yet willing to do it.
pemasu would not ask to have aria2 added it's 15M not including all of it's dependencies which is needed to get all available features like BitTorrent and Metalink capabilities. someone here made a gui for it but mainstream it's cli.

hope someone makes an up-to-date pet sometime.

understand your position with quickpet and you give some hope that time may come sometime in the future. have not looked at it's code as only do rudimentary scratching myself.

review Dpup Exprimo 5.X.8 SMP multicore optimized version

I had same problem as Billtoo. My first boot was a black screen
but subsequent boots have gone normally.

Some problems...

Zathura GUI should be upgraded to 1.9
This corrects for white space in names.

Also I noticed that there is no right click

don570. Thanks of the feedback here and in Pmusic thread. It was good idea to prerelease this while waiting next woof. Several fixable small bugs has been found and need for updates also. Couple of pinstall.sh scripts has been fixed, new updates will be loaded to the woof.
Also now we can really test latest Pmusic and give feedback.
About that black screen. I suspect e17 and hacked .xinitrc or something else to be suspect. I dont have that black screen problem after several pfix=ram boots.
/tmp/xerrs.log might give some explanation. Not sure of course.
Easy fix. I will make JWM as first wm when you boot to the next version.
Black screen is not nice, but if the real reason is not found, I am willing to circumvent. Usually the reason reveals after some time....

Joe Wing is back :D :D :D
He has uploaded JWM-2.10 rev 502 version which has several fixes.
Best thing.....Full screen bug has been fixed !
In attached pet is the new jwm binary, it installs just the jwm binary to the /usr/bin.
20110925
Given that it's been over four years since the last version of JWM was created, I decided it was time to wrap up all the changes since then into a new version. JWM v2.1.0 is now available! Although development has been kind of slow over the last four years, there are a lot of changes since the previous version.

Exprimo 5x8 smp works great in jwm

#107 Post by mikeslr »

Hi pemasu & all,

After I deleted Exprimo 5x7smp from its folder, I unpacked Exprimo 5x8 smp to that folder and rebooted. Everything worked great once I switched to jwm and restarted X, Restarting X was the easiest way to deal with the last of these problems: The first was that my system has 15 partitions, of which ibar showed only 8, and not even consecutive. I could not figure out how to close ibar. So when I switched with ibar still open about 6 dialogue boxes relating to ibar were on the desktop and in the tray.
I'm glad to hear that jwm has been updated, solving the firefox bug. But your mention that the pet just installs the "bin" is slightly confusing. Please correct me if I'm wrong: installing the pet will replace the current jwm in Exprimo, but not whatever addons are currently expected by users running jwm on older puppies --that is, that by itself it will not create the environment jwm fans have come to expect if it, alone, were added to a pupplet currently devoid of jwm, for example Next Puppy.

G'day pemasu,

Full and frugal Exprimo-5x8 run well on my desktop (has troublesome radeon graphics) once I install the ATI flgrx driver so that I can see the text to create a Save file during first shut-down.

Please accept my continued appreciation for your time and effort.

mikeslr. Main thing is that JWM has been again updated. And....I wanted to compile jwm binary so that people can see that it really offers something useful compared to the previous one. My main purpose was not to produce immediately the full jwm-502.pet with all improvements added.
The information of JWM update was the news.
When you compile the jwm source, you get the jwm binary. There is nothing confusing.

Not 100% sure about this. New JWM seems to cause a disturbing tremble in window frames as they update contents. Will test with older version to see if it is something else. CAN confirm F11 bug is fixed though.

EDIT: Nope, its not the new JWM, its something lower down, probably the screen driver.

I compiled couple of file transfer apps. Both of them should support bittorrent also. You need to install libtorrent deb from repo though, I think. Test download worked with aria2.

Both are cli apps.

fbreader upgrade

#113 Post by don570 »

I realised the fbreader can be used to open many formats.

That's a good feature that you should use with the
right click menu. So I quickly made a pet with
a few of the file formats represented.

Interesting .. it does open html files fairly well, even with graphics.

I have in PATH download-latest-firefox script, so you call it straight in console. (/root/my-applications/bin/download-latest-firefox)

It downloads Firefox-7.0, creates DOTdesktop file and asks if you want Firefox to be default browser. The script was presented in Slacko thread, probably it is 01mickos design. I just tested it, works fine.
You can change the LANG="en-GB" line in script to your preferred one. Line 12 in script.
You will get automatic download and menu entry creation.
It is included in Exprimo already, so you can test it whenever you wish.

wrong name for desktop file

#117 Post by don570 »

When I upgraded to mtpaint 3.34.69 I noticed
that there was now two desktop files. (see picture)

I think that you haven't been consistent with
Barry Kauler's method of naming.
When I make a pet package, I get the
desktop name by looking at Wary.

Yeah, I struggled to find for e17 better palette icon. The naming convention was not clearly in my mind. I will fix the naming for Mtpaint. Thanks don570.

Jim3630. I did get only one Firefox menu entry. I think that something in your setup caused that you have now 2 Firefox.desktop files in /usr/share/applications. I am sure you know how to remove the non needed one.

My latest play thing. I hacked together existing script to download wallpaper of the day from the http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/index.html

You get the wallpaper of the day with this script. Install the pet and in console, launch: wallpaper-of-the-day. Enjoy.
The script installs to the /root/my-applications/bin

Use Pschedule to launch this script for example every hour and when the wallpaper changes, you get new one. Not smartest way, but that came my mind with quick brainstorming.

Note that 'mk_dated_backup' doesn't work for files that
have white space in name.

I developed a method to back up a pupsave file with
pschedule. For people who need daily backup
this might be useful.
