what about using google voice to transmit the voip to a caller with puppy, similar to GrooVe app that the android folks are using on their smartphones?

I have not been able to yet but Psip should be able to communicate
with any device using a SIP number
, including phones, tablets, netbooks, Apple and Window computers. Cool

Thanks lobster, that little logo is the most success i've had in a couple of days now Sad

Oh, no it isn't....i've managed to get Fatdog64 520 to save to DVD-RW, doesn't like my flash drive.

So....posting now from Fatdog64, which i've been using since last night.

Edit: I discovered why the interface kept doing the vanishing act every time i initiated an action such as clicking a button - Smokey01 explained that it would pick up any little glitch in the config file, any mistake i made, and disappear.

My issues now appear to be audio-related but the messaging works perfectly. Calls to online contacts are confirmed, but neither party can hear the other, as we ascertained via messaging.

Incidentally, Smokey01, the integrated recorder works fine for me as tested, so thank you for that...

You're doing a magnificent job, guys - thanks to jamesbond and all concerned Very Happy

Subject description: Audio problems, ALSA changes.

I've just done a Puppy version "upgrade" on my regular box from 4.3.1 to 5.1.2 in order to play with Psip32. (Psip32 appears to have dependency problems with 4.3.1, and my ancient test box running 5.1.2 could not handle Psip32).

Still running Psip 0.26 right now, but sound problems which have been plaguing me for the past few weeks, which I was attributing to poor network connectivity, have largely disappeared.

The improvement is astonishing.
The persistent 'jitter' I had in the voice signal is no longer there.
Oscillation no longer occurs after an invalid call request.
Voice signal loss seems still to happen sometimes, but not so regularly.

The setup is just as before, settings were as-saved, I just had to reengage mic boost + disengage mic, I have not touched the ALSA wizard.

I note that Barry mentions some works on ALSA in May this year prior to the 5.1.2 release, but I have not figured out the changes.

Hi jamesbond et al,

Test on psip1.0-rc8 build b4775f80b3

Looks good..lot's of new stuff.

sip url in call box is very handy.
phone/psip on the tray to minimize/maximize psip is brilliant.
Refresh is top notch...much needed.
I think online/offline rather than registered/un-registered but that's just me...no need to change unless others think it's needed.
DTMF keypad works...used the "pound" key to end ekiga echo test.
Conference 528 works.

Now to see if I can call smokey01 as I can't seem to call him...hmmm...he can call me though.
Loads of fun,
Cheers and well done...Eric

Very Happy

Ed, my phone is running Maemo Fremantle. I don't need additional software for that - it comes with SIP support built-in. Don't know much about 'Droid - doesn't own one.

dogle, I'm running psip32 on wife's 5-year-old laptop with Wary 5.0, same kernel version as you mention. Works fine over here.
EDIT: It's Wary 5.0, not 5.1.

cheers!

@jamesbond,

I appreciate your new naming of the versions on psip.

I was running out of names to call the non-pet files.

Now I can test and know which one I'm testing...thanks.

Version RC-9 is out. I'm running it now...
