After trying out various puppies (4.2.1 -> LuPu 5.2.5) on my "new" laptop (hp/Compaq nx6125 -- 1.6 GHz AMD, 1.4 GB RAM, 40 GB HDD w/ 1.5 GB swap), I am now enjoying Fluppy 013.

It looks good, works well, boots quickly and has a good feel. But it's not perfect with all hardware -- yet.

There are some quirks I'm still ironing out.I admit that some of the problems may be of my own making.

I was not getting the sound to work, and when running alsaconf from terminal I was getting a "No supported PnP or PCI card found...), similar to bignono1: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=519127&search_id=876881379#519127
The difference is that he has a ES1968 soundcard while mine is an ATI IXP.

I resolved the sound issue by reinstalling Fluppy, this time using a CD. I normally test puppies by downloading and mounting the .iso, and copying the contents to a directory. I have a selection in my menu.lst that points to this directory. This way, I can try out a Puppy without burning a CD.

But there's something different about Fluppy, unlike the other Puppies and Puplets, that won't allow my soundcard to be detected when "installed" without a CD.

Fluppy also did not recognize my SDHC card from the built-in card reader, at least after restarting X to set up my Synaptics touchpad. That was resolved by this: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=36779. Basically inserting:

Fluppy 013 is no longer actively supported by Jemimah as her job situation has changed. It remains, however, one of the better Puplets (esp. for netbooks and laptops).

Thanks, I have now found out about Jemimahs long absence, and would hope that all is well, if hectic, with her.

In the mean time, with Pemasu's help, I have resolved my #1 and #2 problems in one shot!

Loved the Fluppy13 so went to remaster ...

After Remaster (Douglas') creating *iso then BurnISO2CD. However CD won't boot. It says missing

/boot/vesamenu.c32

In fact the *.iso does not contain a boot directory at all.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way I can recover my iso (took ages to fine tune) and add a boot directory (tried Burn to ISO in Win CDBurner XP then adding the BOOT directory in a subsequent session but suspect some clash in case caused it to fail).

Thanks I did something similar using ISOMaster. Got the boot dir in place.

However the Remaster had allowed me to customize the flp-013.sfs to another name. So then during startup it couldn't find flp-013.sfs 'cos mine was called something else.

Renamed it back built my 4th ISO and re-wrote my CD. All worked in the end. But don't want to do it that way frequently !

I'll see if I can find the old Remaster on a pet somewhere...

Otherwise I may be able to host it for a while.

I am slowly moving away to Squeeze 5X7, and have been monitoring the Next project as well, but have found Fluppy 013 to be an amazingly powerful and stable Puplet.

Fluppy 13 does not seem to recognize the wireless chip in the Acer D255E netbook.

Fluppy tells me its and unknown broadcom device....windows 7 says it is Broadcom 802.11n

Any suggestions?
