Hey guys I've been using Puppy linux as a secondary OS for about a year and it is by far my favorite linux distro. However there is one thing keeping me from using it on my laptop as the main OS. My laptop has an ATI radeon HD 5650 graphics card with switchable graphics. The only way this video card works in linux is using ATI catalyst drivers 11.7 or 11.8. Is there any way that someone could make a .pet for one of these? My wife and I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance for any help!
ATI Catalyst 11.7 or 11.8 .pet for Puppy?
G'day,
Having had quite a bit of trouble with a Radeon HD5450 card in my desktop, I have accumulated several pets of the 11.7 version to suit the various Pups on this computer.
You did not say which Pup you've been using.

should lead to a version for the spups.
On the other hand,

should eventually lead to a lucid-based pet for the 2.6.39.x kernel.
I think there's one for the FatDogs too.
I find I often need to:
open a console>
then type in: aticonfig --initial
hit Enter
then Restart-X
to get the ATI Catalyst driver and Control Centre to work.
The Control Centre doesn't always work (kernel-mismatch or some other issue?) but my display problem is fixed if I can get the basic flgrx driver to provide the graphics - I don't need the ATI Control Centre as such.
Good luck,
David S.
