Subject description: Slacko Streamlined (woof 110823)

This is NOT an official line of Slacko

What it is is the same Slacko built with 2.6.39.3 PAE and xz compression.

That means the iso is only 107 MB

I don't plan on supporting this.. it's a "plaything".. it likely won't work on older P3's, P4's Pentium M's and Athlons.

I'm with Linus on PAE.. (and a few others it seems) but I guess there is demand. I'd prefer Slacko 64, but I have my hands full with Slacko as it is! (and OLPC Wink )

The interesting bit for me is the xz compression. Saves about 12%.. not bad, but it is slower to decompress. Those machines with the horsepower won't notice, but those without could struggle. I don't know for sure, only bothered testing on my workhorse, a fairly modern AMD X2 with 2 gig RAM, AFAIC has plenty of horses!

So.. here it is

Have fun! Smile

Since you linked to my post I guess my stance on PAE is pretty obvious too.Doesn't mean I won't test this though. Laughing
