Puppy 5.2.7 RC2 - Slacko312.37 - Two & Three headed dog

#1 Post by live »

There is Lucid 5.2.5 and an update, that was supposed to be 5.2.6(? or whatever) but there is also a new (thankfully) development based on a more recent kernel 2.6.37.6
Lucid will not disappear.

All of the changes and innovations have been released as Two-Headed Dog.

Additionally, all of the changes and innovations plus the newer 2.6.37.6 kernel, the same one used in Slacko, have been released as Three-Headed Dog. So we get two for one.

These two releases will be maintained--after all, Lucid is an LTS (Long Term Support) release.
Can I get some clarification Thanks

I am kind of a bit curious on such too. Maybe them tell in the three threads or four threads about it?

I drown in all the info. I am in Slacko now.

I name it spup 312.

So most likely it is based on Slackware repo things?

While Lupu was based on Ubuntu 11? things? So the two headed and three headed is kind of different then.

But I know nothing and typically fail to find out.

Lucid 5.2.5 is the current Official Lucid Puppy release.
What is finally the update of 5.2.5?
There is no official update to Lucid 5.2.5. It has been good for 4 months so it should be good for 6 more weeks.

Two-Headed Dog and Three-Headed Dog are Puppy Derivatives. Both are enhancements of Lucid 5.2.5 and incorporate all of the changes that were developed in the project to update 5.2.5--which project is cancelled. There are other Puppy Derivatives of course that are also enhancements of 5.2.5.

IMHO, those who like Lucid 5.2.5 should like The Dogs.

Two-Headed and Three-Headed Dogs can be used as fresh installs of course--which is what I recommend. Two-Headed Dog can be used to update Lucid 5.2.5 after proper precautions are taken. Instructions are in the Two-Headed Dog thread in Puppy derivatives. Actually, it might be possible to use Three-Headed Dog to update Lucid 5.2.5 but that is risky since it is a different kernel--precautions should be taken.
What are/will be the differences btw Slacko 312.37 & Three-Headed Dog (Luci529)??
Many differences. Slacko will use the latest Woof, for one thing. Three-Headed Dog is an enhancement of Lucid 5.2.5. Three-Headed Dog uses the 2.6.37.6 kernel but otherwise it is identical to Two-Headed Dog.

Slacko is the current Official Puppy In Development. I encourage everyone to assist with that development by testing Slacko and posting any issues.

As I get it then. Slacko is based on Slackware repo. While the Squeeze are Debian based. and some Ubuntu mixed in when needed?
