New Puppylinux ISO - Deutsch-Tester gesucht

Danke.

Nice Puppy, and visually appealing, too.

Will try to translate your files from the original English version.
The existing German translations often make no sense at all, unfortunately.

Give me a few days.

Wow
this is quite a task.

Anyway, here is the first file. Please see if it fits your needs. I will continue upon your approval.

wuwei, thanks very much for helping out..

UPDATE

Where did you get the .mo file for bootmanager?
Akita has a custom GUI and .mo file. Yours is really great, but a tiny bit incomplete.

The following was not included in your .mo file:

Code:
Loc_services1="Manage system services"
Loc_services2="Edit the processes which start at bootup and run continuously in the background."
Loc_services3="Choose which system services to run at startup:"
Loc_services4="Untick a checkbox to prevent service from running at startup"

**

It is quite a big task, you're right, I have been making a lot of scripts internationalized and adding the (terrible) translations myself.. I still have more to do, but hope that your work (and others) will make future translations more correct - I will study what you do and try to apply it to other translations I make, where possible.

Damn Google!! Smile I did my best, but my German is terrible, as I'm sure you can see. If you told me they were actually perfect I would not know the difference - to a native English speaker, with a bit of German vocab, it all makes perfect sense! Rolling Eyes Laughing

Hi Rolf, that will be fantastic. No rush...

But I noticed I already have xorgwizard.mo in the 'de' folder.. If it matters, it's a real .mo (using gettext) ...
I can see the German when the gtkdialog GUI is running in X, but not using the CLI (console) version.

I have attached the .mo that I have in the Akita ISO.

Hope this information helps Smile

Got it from /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES.

Anyway, I have amended bootmanager.mo and added checkdeps and chooselocal. The result is attached. Please move the additional lines in bootmanager to their correct positions.

@rhadon:
Danke rhadon für deinen Beitrag von hinten beginnend. Ich mache später mit der connectwizard, drivemounter und installpreview weiter.

That's great, thank you... So much done! Very Happy

If anyone needs to edit gettext stuff, here's the poedit to use with AKITA:

Would you mind taking a look at this

Any thoughts about this strange occurrence?

xorgwizard.mo looks OK. Smile
btw. How can I open/read such a compiled .mo?
I'm playing around with poedit and xgettext for the very first time. Is there a way to use xgettext for bash scripts? I see a lot of programming languages, including 'Shell'. But nothing seems to work right Crying or Very sad

In startups.mo (de) I added and translated the last line from the english one too. If not neccessary, please remove.

Hi sc0ttman and rhadon.

Looks like almost all files are now translated. I am adding an archive with all 11 files, including those two above from rhadon.

Not sure what you mean re: xorgwizard.mo rhadon?

Can't you open it? If so, please use the attached en-copy after removing the .gz suffix. It opens just by right-click and "als Text öffnen".
Will leave that last file to you.

Finally @sc0ttman:
Akita looks good. But I think there are a few more "deutsch" issues. if you want, I can make screenshots and point them out to you.

Yes, I can't open it. Also a lot of others I can't open, e.g. countrywizard.mo, dotpuprox.mo, ffconvert.mo or frugalinstaller. All from Akita, /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/.

I assume, there are two different kinds of .mo files. Compiled ones, maybe created by poedit, and others, created by a text editor.

I'm talking about these ones, I can't open. Can you open them?

Rolf
