Two-Headed Dog 528 Sub_title: Puppy derivative enhancement of Lucid 5.2.5 |
|
Two-Headed Dog has done its job. Nothing horrible turned up, so I went back on my medication and released it officially as Lucid 5.2.8.
If you have been using Two-Headed Dog, it is identical to Lucid 5.2.8 except for the naming. You can switch to Lucid 5.2.8 by renaming the lucisave file to lupusave and booting the Lucid 5.2.8 Live-CD, or by renaming the lucisave to lupusave and then opening the Lucid 5.2.8 iso file and copying the Lucid 5.2.8 files into the luci-528 directory (for a frugal install).
As always, fresh installations are the easiest.

I'm confused.
Should I wait for Lupu-527 to be finalized, and use that to update Lupu-526?
And where does Luci-528 fit in?

Congratulation playdayz!
Great job, try in ram, all seem working fine and really fast on my old IBM thinkpad T41. I appreciate SFS load on the fly works well in ram and I am gonna try lang pack fr.
Just a question : 511 -> 525 -> 526 -> 528 -> ... ? why do versions change so often ?
Thanks playdayz, petihar

The intended bugfix update of Lucid 525 has been cancelled.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=552000#552000
Luci-528 is an enhanced derivative with all the fixes but not an "official" lucid release.AFAIK, Lupu-527 was finished and became Luci-528.

Dear playdayz, you must be joking... I think no one expected you to finalize this grand undertaking in just a few days.
You listened, listened and listened, invoked the help of some extraordinary coders to deal with the snakepits the community presented to you...With a smile and a lot of enthousiasm you created yet another luci, rc or whatever, never losing sight of the goal. Hats off !
Like others above, I wonder, is this the final one?
The newer kernels that are in Slacko and the several new Dpups...yes, that's what's next. I really hope the development of Slacko and the Dpups will get equal amounts of attention. It is quite a unique situation developing here in Puppy Linux, Slackware or Debian? Or, Slackware and Debian? (another two-headed puppy )
Thanks for everything.

Playdayz and Micko, THANK YOU! for getting us this far with an acceptable release.
All of us have benefitted from the combined efforts. This release seemingly is operational and stable.
I have posted, as promised, a Hardinfo report. It now shows 94MB of RAM in useon this Live media desktop PC..
We need to have you guys "knighted" for the collection you present us with.
See you at the next kernel and changes that Barry announced. And lightspeed to Slack.
