When I boot my puppy, it says kernel panic -not syncing etc.
I have no idea what is going on, because I have been using my computer for the past month or two and this has never happened. However, if I boot with pfix=ram, it boots fine. I can't seem to acess my lupusave.3fs file when I boot this way. I think it might be due to the fact I connected a usb hard-drive that needed two ports. I couldn't mount it, and it happened right after that boot.
Please help!

Suppose you have grub legacy or grub4dos then in menu.lst do this
title luci-268
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /luci-268/vmlinuz psubdir=luci-268 puppy pfix=fsck
initrd /luci-268/initrd.gz
this part that I have made bold pfix=fsck that one can most often repair your pup save file unless it is encrypted.
Naturally you can add that pfix=fsck at boot by stopping the boot and edit the line there
if that fails then rename the pupsave to .bac or something and start all over and try to access the savefile with ROX trying to recover what is not corrupted in it, the personal files you may have there
But hope fully those that know more than I do will give even more qualified answers

Always give precise info.
As you speak of a save file, it can be assumed you did a FRUGAL install, but always nice to get it confirmed.
How do you boot, where are your puppy files and save file.
Post a copy of your menu.lst.
