Are you using frugal/full install, help with wiki page

#1 Post by darkcity »

There seems to be confusion about whether to frugal or full install Puppy Linux. So I wondered which people are using and what the disadvantages and advantages of each are?

I've made a wiki page on the topic - please add to the comparison table and correct any errors.

My FRUGAL is using the Lin'N'Win method.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Use peppyy's puppysearch

darkcity, I have also the impression that in Puppyland people are re-inventing the wheel.
There is a puppy install instruction.
It contains also explanation of FRUGAL/FULL

Just to make you aware of this.

I boot a "live" CD-RW, and put a pupsave+SFS in a folder on a partition on an internal HDD.
And arrange to treat the pupsave on the internal HDD, as if a pupsave on a Flash Drive.

Is that a "live" install?
Or a "pupsave" install?

I voted as "Other".

I use a DVD-RW (faster and more reliable than CD-RW)

HD I use for data storage and config/save file only

This means my two HD's can each have separate booting OS without partitioning
I think I have Pinguy and Ubuntu on them but hardly ever use
Puppy Raspup 8.2Final 8)
