No blank screen for disabling screen blanking while watching movies. Massive size. Lol.
It has menu entry. I think the script was done by Trio, but I am not sure.

Have you tried XineDVD for DVD playback? Is that what you meant by '"movie."
In 262 :)
No have not tried that. I mean the Gnome Mplayer
From what I remember this was a problem with the ATI propriety driver
if I just loaded GLX ATI driver from quickpet then I could run movies (from what I remember) but I need the crystal drivers for Openshot 1.3 and Secondlife . . .

I want it All

Nathans wallpaper program seems to be working OK (we did have two?)
is this one working OK for everyone now? As Nathan is about I wonder if it is possible to implement an access and display pics by scrolling up and down pics with the arrow keys.

Hi Playdayz

I've not been able to test Luci-262 yet.
Has the problem of multi-session support been addressed?I think this is quite important as I never did get any previous version of Lucid to read a disc that was made in this format.

Seamonkey 2.2 and mtpaint seem OK.
What is the best way of testing? I just tend to use and see what happens . . . 8)

Here's Dash - very useful for speeding up scripts and reducing the memory usage of stuff written with gtkdialog/Yad/Zenity/etc'.

I suggest you, playdayz, to include Dash and Yad in 5.2.6. These two could make 5.2.6 the golden age of Puppy in-house applications development.

Stripe. I havent done anything, as usual. But...
There is 01mickos product, I think the scipt is named sfs_grabber.
Then there is Shinobar's sfs_load.
And lastly but not leastly there is Barry Kauler's sfsget. It checks from distro specs what repo is suitable and then lists all available sfs apps in that repo. Then you click the sfs and it downloads it to the /mnt/home. And then reboot.
Shinobar's sfs_load loads sfs on the fly very efficiently.
01mickos product is well integrated to the Lucid Puppies and Quickpet.
Barrys sfsget comes with recent woofs.
Then there is Jrb's sfs linker also......

Attached is screenshot of Barry's sfsget which might be most unfamiliar.

James C,

That "pretty desktop" and the Openbox xml errors make me think it might be a bad download or a bad burn, but I know you do this as much as anyone.. We have never seen either of those errors though. I gather it did not have a problem with luci-260?

In a bit I will pm you a link to luci-261, which is not released, if you could check that on that problem box. Thanks.

Jesse's fix -> http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 524#536524

This is something I *really* need help with: the fail to boot from usb with no drives present. I don't understand Jesse's fix--it seems to me we would want to know why there is a bad value in the referenced file in the first place--but....

Here's Barry's mention of it--which does not contain a full fix.
Booting from USB when no internal hard drive is installed bug
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=02272

This one is not for the faint-hearted. It involves unpacking and deciphering the initrd.gz script. From the thread with Jesse's fix I gather there might be two problems--one with the no drive bug and another with the syslinux problem in 5.2.5 that *should* be fixed in luci-262.

More excellent news
umplayer is working in 262 Smile
Iguleder, Could you explain dash please--does it compile gtkdialog scripts? That's just a guess. I agree about the Golden Age of Puppy programs--I think it has already started ;-)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Another thing that will help is if some people could create multi-session cd's or dvd's and see if they work correctly on different machines.

I think Luci just doesn't like that box.
Naturally, MD5 was verified, burn was verified and the same cd was fine in 3 other computers.
It appears that, for some reason, Puppy ...including Luci and Pemasu's stuff too.....incorrectly identifies the GeForce 8400GS PCIx 2.0x16 card. I have another box with the same card, except its regular PCI, and all pups..including Luci work fine.Puzzling. :)
Anyway, downloading 261 and will try it later.

262 running on Acer Extensa 4620Z. Note taskbar in 'proper' place at top of screen :)
Note also using latest Pfbpanel from Stu90, so able to display CPU temp in taskbar. Full transparency of taskbar too.
Overall runs about 5 deg hotter than Spup, but all Lucids do this. Video performance re-sizing windows is very very good.
Opera 11.50, simple download of .deb from Opera site unpacked to mnt/home and symlinked. Performance is excellent. Chromium 14 not so much.
Suspect mplayer will put its cache in /root/ and bork my save file when watching a big video download :) Will test it next.......

Playdayz. Here is init script from the 26.6 woof, which includes Barrys fix. I havent much tempered with init scipt. It looks too bad for my understanding. But the solution is somewhere inside it.
Remove the phony .gz, it is plain script.

I just made a multi-session CD of Luci 262.
Used Burniso2cd
Multi-session CD works fine for me no problems booting with or saving to CD.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Do you have a second machine to test it on?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would also be good if some could test remastering on luci-262. Rerwin revised the script so there is no need to use the pre-remaster pet--it should all work now as it is supposed to work ;-)

Extra laptop keybindings are missing from /root/.config/openbox/rc.xml. Add them to the 'keyboard' section

Code: Select all

    <keybind key="0xb2"><action name="Execute"><command>defaultbrowser</command></action></keybind>
    <keybind key="0xa0"><action name="Execute"><command>amixer sset Master toggle</command></action></keybind>
    <keybind key="0xb0"><action name="Execute"><command>amixer sset Master 1+,1+</command></action></keybind>
    <keybind key="0xae"><action name="Execute"><command>amixer sset Master 1-,1-</command></action></keybind>

What video driver is Puppy using when it first boots before you make any changes?
