Subject description: game can´t load .Directory as a jpg...

hello all,

muggins used a patch i supplied in a Suse-Forum, but the solution
had a mistake: the game tries to load a "." ".." and
a ".Directory" as a jpg. the first version i posted, i only
solved the problem with the "." and the ".." and NOT the
".Directory" . But i posted a better solution in the forum.
Hello muggins, please use my latest patch! or have you
managed the problem i mentioned above?

have lot of fun

uli

Here are a couple of LEM images that can be used to replace the existing moon lander ship for that authentic look Laughing

Moon lander has been updated with a new patch so that the game doesn't try to load a "." ".." and ".Directory" as a jpg.

Download new pet from first post.

Thank you muggins

Hi All

Should this work in 5.2? Does not work from menu. If run in a terminal it appears to be looking for libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0. "No such file or directory". If I search for this file in my system it does appear to be missing. If I search for missing dependences I get "no missing dependences". Do I have to install something else to get this working in 5.2?

Regards,

Ken.

Hello Ken,

yes it needs libSDL-1.2.so.0, libSDL_image-1.2.so.0 & libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0. I'm not
sure where I downloaded these from on my system, but I just tested moon-lader, with a full SDL pet provided by Dingo here , and it works fine.

Hi Muggins

I downloaded the SDL package from your link. It downloaded as a .gz file. However, I read in another thread that this can be a browser issue and so I renamed it as a .pet and it seemed to install OK. (I searched for the appropriate files and they were now on my system). Now the game starts from the menu and plays a short demo but if I press enter and start to play the game it crashes after a perhaps five seconds of play leaving nothing on the screen but the normal desktop. If I run from a terminal the game starts as above but again crashes. I think the significant parts of the terminal output are
" cannot open file for reading: /root/.moon_lander -loading defaults" and lastly
"fatal signal: segmentation fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)"
On checking there is no .moon_lander file (I know this is a hidden file and so I have not missed it by not looking for these). Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Ken.

I found this libSDL-1.2.tar.gz compiled in Lucid Puppy Linux 5.2, it contains libSDL-1.2, libSDL_ttf, libSDL_net, libSDL_image, libSDL_mixer.

can be downloaded here http://code.google.com/p/wesnoth-sfs/downloads/detail?name=libSDL-1.2.tar.gz&can=2&q=

I've made a pet from it that can be downloaded Here

Geoffrey & Keniv,

Normal User has sent me an additional patch, so I'll recompile it, and add a link, within an hour. Hopefully this will resolve Keniv's problem.

(Oddly, running on lupu520, if I delete /root/.moon_lander, it seems to work OK for me?)

Edit: Actually will take longer as I'm feeling a bit patchy myself, trying to ascertain which patches are required. I sent a pm to Normal User for clarification.

muggins,

Same here, works fine for me, I deleted the .moon_lander and it recreates it if I change the options, Confused.

I'm running it in quirky 1.20, hope this new patch fixes it once and for all. Laughing

Hi All

Thank you for all the help and work you are putting into this. I did try an install of another SDL (SDL 1.2.13) I found on the forum but this did not work either. I have just downloaded and installed Geoffreys SDL pet. I find it odd that I don't have .moon_lander in my install when you both appear to have it and so I will reinstall the moon-lander pet. If I still cant get it to work I will wait for the new patched version from muggins.

Thanks again,

Ken.

Ken,

while you're waiting for a patched version, you can try creating the config file, /root/.moon_lander, with just this content:

Code:
3 1 1 1 1 2

and see if that makes any difference.
