Uninstalling Default Macpup Applications |
|
I'm building a barebone Macpup to be used as base for a Utility LiveCD used in fixing computers. I remember coming across a pet for removing default applications much like Pet-Be-Gone. Can anyone point me to where I can download said application? I can't seem to find it even after using search.
Thanks for Macpup 5.2, the more I used it, the more I realized that it is indeed faster (snappier) than Macpup 5.1. Or am I just too tired?

If you have a copy of lupu 525 it has a remaster without built in apps option. You may be able to pull it out of 525 and run it in macpup 520. Or wait a few weeks for macpup525.

Thanks very much for that information, runtt21 -
I've been really stoked with your latest offerings (511 on a Toshiba Portege 3840CT, 520 on a ThinkPad T60) and you have impressed my Win and Mac colleagues no end. But I guess like ragaman I sometimes yearn for a cut-down version that isn't so feature-rich with apps I never have a need to use. I wait for a MacPup525 with keen interest from you and Prit (and the E17 team...)
Cheers!

Sorry to be so self-contradictory now, runtt21 -
was just rifling through the backpages of this thread and saw on Page 4 your "how to" on installing glGo. Errrr.... for a barebones MacPup may I humbly submit that you trash all the usual Puppy games and JUST KEEP IN glGO. As you are well aware, Go ain't just a "game".
OK so you would need Java in a "barebones" pup - hence the contradiction. Never mind - I am thrilled with your detailed notes on getting Java (plugins) working in MacPup520, and I will be trying your recipe for a similar project I have on the back burner but bounce badly due to my java ineptitude outlined elsewhere (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=67564). Perhaps your procedure might have java communicating fully under Wine - another anti-barebones issue - that others seem to have problems with in Puppy more generally,
Thanks!
[EDIT: later saw your clarification for gnugo vs glGo.]

The problem with glgo is that igs wont allow redistribution. So I had to shelve that project. And if you have been around online go for a while You know that tweet can be a real punk when he wants to. It worked great for me for about 2 weeks and then it gave me this python error and hasn't work since. But Cgoban 3 is still going strong. Of the two I spend most of my online go time at KGS. I have had KGS+ since wms can up with it. The last solid rank I had there was 7k .
I am running the alpha of 525 now and so far its cool. I havn't tested all the stuff yet but right now its coming in at about 152 MB. I may still do a "lite" version but it will be after this one.The way I build and remove stuff takes time so ...... I want to keep it full featured cause the leafers really want to compete with me for some reason and their .iso is more than twice my size and only has leafpad, dillo & e17. so they can bring it on.

@runtt21
Not sure what the future 525 lite version will be, but I would welcome Opera 11 in the lite version. It also has build in e-mail, so would allow you to strip out the heavy FF and whatever mail (Claws ?) you are using. And it fits the MACPUP history.
And as I am concerned, drop all the games.

First things first..... We will get the regular version out first , then a update of e17, then the lite version. I am at beta on the next version.
Here is a really good review of mp520.....

I have uploaded the angelic theme to my macpup page .It is in the new macpup525 folder but it will run in mp520. I put it there cause that is where all the new stuff is going. Also I am stopping updates for 520 to focus on 525.
