How to add Xorg to Barebones Puppy 2? - Solved

#1 Post by slvrldy17 »

According to his notes in the developer news Barry has left Xorg out of the Barebones version of Puppy 2.0 - there is only Xvesa. Since I need Xorg to run the Xfce window manager and possibly other applications I need to know what would be involved in adding Xorg back in - where to download it - any extras needed to make it work etc. Anyone care to enlighten a relative newbie on this subject?

Thanks,

I just install it from a PupGet package xorg-6.8.1 x server a while ago. It went right in and no problem. Just run xorgwizard from the prompt.

For whatever reason I just didn't spot Xorg in the pupget list  - I've installed it and it seems to work OK - with the addition of a few progs like Firefox, Thunderbird, etc. I should have a workable setup for everyday use - without the deadweight of unwanted/needed stuff like Seamonkey. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction,

Hi, There
Go to the Menu > Setup > Puppy package manager.
Hit the bottom button, then hit the larger button toward top.
Look for it in the left panel. xorg-6.8.6 X server, support progs and libraries
The rest is self explanatory. Good Luck, Kal

Suggestion:

Perhaps a Puppy 2.0 Barebones + Xorg.
