dhcpcd fresh IP address -*.pid situation in Puppy2

#1 Post by tempestuous »

In Puppy2, it appears to be no longer necessary to remove the stale dhcpcd file /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.pid before obtaining a fresh IP address? Can anyone confirm this?

sci_fi reports that there is a dhcpcd .pid file in /var/run, but I can't see it

In /etc/dhcpc/ I see dhcpcd-eth0.cache and dhcpcd-eth0.info. dhcpcd seems to work fine with older versions of these files present, and will overwrite them.

duke,
just double-checking - you definitely don't need to remove the *.pid file, right?

Yes that is correct, puppy complained with it in there, so we remarked it out and no more problem. It did boot with it in there but it was unhappy about it.
