Just started a fresh Woof build of a dpup, with 5.2.5's package selection. I want to fix it one package at a time, till I get a working, plain dpup.

That's the way my Squeeze work started, but this time I know more about the internals of a distro so I think it could be a nicer pet project :)

dpup 485

Here's lxterminal,a tabbed terminal emulator with transparent background and various font styles and sizes.
It needs vte installed and to change the font etc. look in the edit>preferences part of the lxterminal menu.

Compiled and tested in Dpup 485

" did you try the mentioned frisbee tool? "

Frisbee and Pwireles 2 do not work in your Dpup.

Chris.

Oh, then I guess I'll have to take jemimah's latest sources and try to compile in dpup. Maybe find a wireless spot where I can test.

aarf, can you try fullscreen opera with fluxbox instead jwm maybe?
downloaded /fluxbox.git-i686-dpup485.gz renamed to .pet. click installed and did xwin startflubox at prompt. desktop appears that looks exactly as it did before.
go into opera uchess.com but connection doesn't happen.in full screen i cant click the ok button to close the dialog box which i can do in non-full screen. now only have gprs connection before had 3g so i think that is affecting the connection ie. not enough speed for flashplayer.
but i think it is a fail because i cant click the dialog box closed in full-screen.
was also thinking it may have something to do with the other flash necessary files which i didn't copy or overwrite. havent tested that though.
my favorite window manager is flwm which is a choice in puppeee

edit see next post where i learn how to spell fluxbox

ok scratch that previous post but now i started with
xwin startfluxbox
and there are differences in the desktop and i can close the dialog box with the ok click in fullscreen.
could be a win for fluxbox.
still cant play chess though due to unable to connect on my now slow gprs connection.

Man, I love these output plugins on Audacious, I've been playing with Crystalizer / Echo and Extra stereo... makes sounds on my crappy desktop speakers significantly improved. If I make another dpup version or some customized puplet Audacious will replace bmp for sure.

Ah, no sorry 666philb Mick did give me a hint how to check if Barry's version is the one used for dpup but forgot to actually check it out, will do later.

aarf, so it is a problem in jwm afterall. Didn't have luck with frisbee but I think I did something wrong I will retry.

tubeguy, cool! 8)

Sorry for delayed responses people didn't have much time these days to mess with dpup.

I'll test it within some 10 minutes. Have to reboot and so on.
What should I look out for?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Uh, don't know, just do what you usually do with your system and see if it works for you.

Sad news. I feel bad having to report that it did not work well.

First it booted that is a good start.
But I was too trusty of the xorgwizard choice because it usually do work but it ended up with black screen. So I started all over but then it failed to boot. So I added nosmp to kernel line which help when lupu fail to boot.
Nope that was not enough. So I added nolapic and that made it boot but after getting deskptop I wanted to report so started up browser but no internet. So I went to connect and chose Atheros as LAN driver but it did see no network and the bad bad news is that when I booted into Snow pup again then that one failed to see the LAN network too so I had to shut down and take out battery and powerplug and let it reset.

So now I am in Snow for to report. Another thing that failed was that it is like dpup009 in that it only show 1024 x 600 when one have two screens. internal and external to the Netbook Acer D250.

So Dpup may be very good on some hardware but not on mine.
