Kindle for PC with PuppyLinux 5.25

from Quick Pets installed Wine

from Amazon download Kindle for PC application and download it to root.
at : tinyurl.com/28zbaf8

click on the Console : type winecfg

In that window click Add Application and navigate through the
Program Files --> Amazon --> Kindle for PC to Kindle.exe
at the bottom at Windows Version select --> Windows XP

click Apply

----------------
Creating Desktop Icon for Kindle for PC Puppy:

I have attached a KindleBook.png file which you can download

Click the Home icon on the desktop. In the ROX window click the eye icon to reveal the hidden directories of which wine is one

click .wine and navigate through the directories by clicking them:
.wine --> drive_c --> Program Files --> Amazon --> Kindle for PC

then drag the Kindle.exe to the desktop, right click on it and select Edit to give it a more appropriate title : Puppy Kindle for PC. click OK

Right click on the icon again and choose File and navigate to the cascading menu to SET ICON. Drag the KindleBook.png file there or a Icon of your choosing.

----------

Using Kindle for PC in Puppy.

Apparently this application does not reach the Amazon servers properly from Wine so you will not be able to register the Kindle for PC software and use it directly online.

How ever there are free sources for Amazon books that you can download and this place in the content directory in the Kindle for PC and they will be accessible for reading. Or if you have a Kindle you can transfer your ebooks to the CONTENT directory on your computer for reading.

The CONTENT directory to drag your downloaded Kindle ebooks is at :

following the hidden directory tree you can find and drag the Content directory to the desktop :

.wine --> drive_c --> Program Files --> Amazon --> Kindle for PC

Thus you will be able to easily drag and drop your ebook downloads to that directory as you add them.

Here are a few links that are useful as starting points, look for the Kindle version ebooks therein.

Ndujoe1, am I correct in assuming this requires Wine to be installed in Puppy first?

Seems so, very few puplets include wine by default

Use quickpet or PPM (puppy package manager) for Wine
Puppy Raspup 8.2Final 8)

The wine in the Lucid Puppy Package Manager works, does it not? It is the one prepared by greendome and I think it is very well done. I use it. (Well, the one in PPM is a few digits behind.)
