Hence in this case, as the laptops hard drive is already removed, this program should first be running from the CD if the laptop does not natively support USB booting
But instead of doing that, booting puppy off the CD would be much easier
I suppose this option is useful when we don't have puppy burned to a cd

If one can't boot from usb, it could be worth to try Superfloppy mode from Puppy Universal Installer.
That's the only way for me on my Gericom laptop to boot from usb. In my BIOS boot menu usual usb devices are not detected. A stick with installed Puppy in Superfloppy mode will be detected and boots fine. Tried several times with several sticks. I never tested with usbhd but I think it could also work.
