The keucr does not give that error for me. Yes, my laptop started to use keucr for my sd card reader when it was available.
Myke, it would help if you could track which kernel module is behind your usb mouse.
Good news. Unetbootin failed for me also so now I can debug usb unetbootin myself.
I start debuggineg immediately systematically now. First notice, my ext4 had errors when I ran fsck. It just can be that the build was corrupted.
Myke, The kernel pet is for woof building. You cant use it just by installing it. I am not fan of kernel switching. I will support woof building method only.
I believe atm the problem was with build, not the kernel per se.
But corrupted file system. Damn. It means that the kernel compile can be corrupted also. Alright, I will do it clean way. I will recompile the kernel also and make new pet of it. Fortunately I have the building Ice Puppy still intact, so everything is ready for new compile. Kernel sources, specs so it just take time, but not effort much.
Probably I will make fresh new Ice Puppy-005 build after all these procedures has been done. It will take some time.
I will take the reuploaded version out from ftp server now, so that none else will have problems.
Well well, RHE releases are like that.
I know that development could go also so that developer tests profoundly before releases the build. But I just like it this way. When people debugs at the beginning there always will be found bugs which would have been unnoticed. I have already fixed some puppy bugs based on forum feedback.

Compiling kernel now again. Based on reports in this thread and the 2.6.38.3 kernel thread I have gone through all the kernel specs and modified the previous specs. Just for fun of it and also to maybe make it more hw friendly.f
I found also the bug in my miscellaneous filesystem section. Aufs was compiled static, not as module as it should be.
Probably reason to that usb nonbooting failure.

Pesamu, sorry for the report. Somehow by trying to update the save file all the problems arose. I guess I don't understand the workings of the save file and the kernel (which I thought would take care of the mouse and the card reader). Starting Ice-Puppy 4 w/o the save file has eliminated the problems with the mouse and the card reader.

Ice Puppy-005 under testing now. Posting from usb unetbootin and no 005 sfs in my hdd. So no possibility of wrong detection and booting from hdd.
It detects usb booting when you ADD pdev1=sdbX in my case pdev1=sdb1 to the kernel row. For some it can be sdc or sdd also. Depends on in what letter your usb stick is detected.
I really dont know yet why pmedia=usbflash does not work.
And this is definetely Highmem and PAE enabled and with Intel Atom optimization.
Lsmod shows that modules are loaded. Sorry this long paste, but it is for reference for me also.

Nooby. I have acer laptop. Fan and thermal works for me. I get cpu core temp nicely. Also Acer Aspire One had them working.
As you can see above on my list , modules fan, thermal and thermal_sys are loaded on my above listing.

Nooby. Thermal info and usage for fan control has been transferred to the thermal sys filesystem. Thermal_sys is the kernel module which is used to produce that information. You will not find that module in any other puppies. It is first time used in Ice Puppies and in derivatives made by original kernel announcer. He has thread under Puppy Projects.
Thermal_sys module was the reason lm-sensors, libsensors, gatotray, xsensors were needed to get graphical or numerical info of the cpu temp.

Oaky but that means that Acer D250 is different from your Acer and I also have a D255 I can test on and that one most likely are different too.
I tested ice5 and that one failed to get usb mouse but I should ahve tested without the pupsave from ice4 so I do it again just in case that solve it.

There should be small red thermometer in your tray. Move mouse over it. It gives info from tool tip. The app is called gatotray. Thanks to Beem for finding that nice tray app.
Also in console: #sensors give you thermal information if it works.
If you get values which sound right, you are closer for normal fan control.
To check if your hw can be regocnized, run in console sensors-detect and hit enter until you get through all questions. It wont harm your comp to do that. Read also what sensors are detected.

If you prefer something different, say 63C on, 58C off, then you should load the module like this

Kernel pet is designed for woof building. To swap kernels, you need to extract it and use the files manually.
I havent done that, but James C is real expert on that.
