How to connect Puppy to a Nokia E71 phone with Bluetooth

#1 Post by Master_wrong »

this week i just try new distro ----> bodhi linux

apart from the fact that we have to install everything.... even cups server is not installed by default...

i find 1 thing find that may useful during my attempt to install it :

Bluetooth...

i installed gvfs, blueman and pcmanfm into the system then
i use the howto step from here :
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic ... th/page/2/

from blueman advanced setting we use : gvfs-mount obex://[%d]
the phone will be mounted and can be opened using pcmanfm.

it is mounted at mount point at home folder, the folder is---> .gvfs

I wonder if anyone can make blueman, work on puppy. and if we can use them

thank you

:D Hello,
@Master_wrong,
I also have an E-71, and am interested in all E-71 info available...
Is there a link for blueman...
Have you been able to use it as a usb 3G modem,,,
Been following BK`s blog about it, and can get it recognized, but cant connect....
My Pups just mount it, and transfer works fine, .depending on the phone "mode" at the moment...
And the wifi modem works fine, except for gftp, and I already have a thread on that...Ad-hoc and gftp....
Anyhow, I saw E-71 and went :shock: 8) ...
Nice phone tho....

@puppyluvr
:D
Hi,Blueman link is here
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/blueman
picture is here
http://screenshots.debian.net/package/blueman
here is source and dependancy
http://blueman-project.org/downloads.html

here is gvfs
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/gvfs-fuse
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/gvfs-bin

Have you been able to use it as a usb 3G modem,,,
did you mean bluetooth modem ?
if you mean bluetooth modem, yes blueman can set phone to /dev/rfcomm0 if you click dial up networking (i tested it), you need dialer such as gppp or wvdial then set device as /dev/rfcomm0, however i didnt test connection to internet but i think it will work.

if you mean usb modem, no i didnt test them
as for now i already wipe my bodhi linux as i test other distro :twisted:

btw on bodhi, i install few thing that when i try remaster it refuse because the system become too big for iso (about 5 Gig ?). i wonder why the system become so big is it because i install gnome application such as gftp, gppp etc... ?

why any system with half capability of puppy need more that more than 4 Gig really confuse me.

I am trying to make this happen too.
I got Blueman and Gvfs using PPM.

# /usr/bin/blueman-manager
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/blueman-manager", line 26, in <module>
import dbus, dbus.glib
ImportError: No module named dbus
#

I am getting the same error in 2 other progs I am trying to get going.
Unfortunately I know nothing about Python, so I am stuck.
It's not easy being incompetent.

:D Hello,
Python is a PITA to build, P.A.W. is full of python, and was a lot of work...
(about 7 month to get it all to work together...)

> 5gb to remaster... :evil: That must be trying to remaster a whole partition or something... :shock:

Will look @ the bluetooth stuff as soon as I get off my Pup testing spree...
So much VERY GOOD stuff about ATM...

Did we not have a guy asking for bluetooth the other day?
He would love to read this thread?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

@puppyluvr
its bloat indeed.
however i still like how it can boot as fast as puppy (about 25 sec), from grub selection. its about as fast as lucid 5.2 boot time, where kde and gnome based need 40 sec to boot.
but as i find out that i cannot remaster, i just give up on it.

@nooby
yes think i will start new thread for bluetooth as i have find out how to enable them, maybe it can be useful for those who need.

this thread is now moved to
