Skype static 2.2.0.35 [SFS] |
|
I have created an SFS file of the latest beta. Although the interface looks mainly unchanged Skype claim various bug fixes and enhanced video and audio quality. I have tested with Racy 5.2.2, Wary 512-5.2.2, Lucid Puppy 525-529, and Quirky 142. (Quirky 142 does not include required libraries libXv.so.1 and libXxf86dga.so.1 .)
This SFS file is intended for frugal installs not full installs. I cannot offer advice about using it with a full install.
You can download the SFS from:
http://terryphillips.org.uk/warystuff/skype_static-2.2.0.35.sfs
The download location requires a username and password.
username: puppy password: linux

Hi,
Im totally new with Puppy and this forum.
I would like to install this new skype version.
What is "the usual username and password" for the download?
I was searching in the forums, but couldn't find any hint.
Thanks for your help

You do not say which Puppy derivative you are using or whether you are dual booting with Windows. I use Quirky and Wary dual-booting with Windows and these are the appropriate instructions. Menus may be different in other Puppy variants.
Place the SFS at /mnt/home (or C:\ if dual booting with Windows) .
Go to System>BootManager configure bootup.
Select "Choose which extra SFS files to load at bootup."
Select required SFS file and move from left panel to right panel using "Add" button. Press "OK" then "Quit".
Reboot and SFS will then be loaded.

Hi guys,
I downloaded the sfs, put into /mnt/home and loaded with
System>BootManager configure bootup.
Select "Choose which extra SFS files to load at bootup."
Select required SFS file and move from left panel to right panel using "Add" button. Press "OK" then "Quit".
Reboot and SFS will then be loaded.
BUT, after rebooting I don't find skype... neither by consolle... any suggestion?
Thanks

difedepe: What version of Puppy are you using and what type of install?
Have you checked Boot Manager after reboot to see that the SFS is loaded?
It has been tested on frugal installs. See first post about versions it has been tested on and note about additional libraries required by some versions.
What do you see when you type skype at terminal?

Hi,
I use the 5.25 and after rebooting I see the SFS module loaded... It's strange.
Now I installed skype from the repository but it is 2.1.0.81 version...
This one should be newer, right?
Any suggestion?
