Thinking of making a 525 "spirit tree" out of all the burned CD's in this release run....
I should count which version of Lucid had the most development versions. My guess would be 5.2.

The Ultimate Expression of the Lucid Vision

What we need is a quick sanity check. There are so few changes, just make sure it does the obvious, boots, installs, runs. Who's awake and online? Maybe we can have a release when the Aussies wake up!!!

In the first message. Thanks.
questions
1. what happened to version 523 and 524 -appears we went from
522 to 525 . trust this is not april fools joke?

2. would it be possible to get delta files on these updates?
sure would make it easier/faster for people on dialup. took 31min
to d/l 525 on dsl. hate to think how long it would be on dialup

anyway, d/l 525, burned iso and booted live cd
installed new seamonkey 2.0.13.q1.pet which requires sqlite-3.6.23-1.qt.pet. posting from it now

sound is ok on first boot - will do full install to hd and report back later

No April Fools. I thought 5.25 sounded better as the number of the release than 5.23 did. Lucid Puppy Five Twenty-Five!!!

I had done some delta files but on this I didn't know whether to do it from 521 or 522, so I didn't do it! That's the kind of person that has been coordinating Lucid for the last year ;-)

Those files are in LupuNews--among other places.

Announcing Lucid 5.25 RC - The Most Leading-Edge Lucid Ever

#1145 Post by Billtoo »

I did a frugal install on my Acer laptop.
No problems.

I made some pets in 525 for Audacious music player.

It plays music cds too and has lots of plugins and effects.

All four pets need to be installed.

" I am not sure I understand what you are talking about.

My puppy 5s let me put a pupsave file on sda5, which is an IDE hard drive.

cthisbear if you do puppy pfix=ram then the software should be able to ask where you want to save. "

"""""""""

Of course if you use the Universal installer on a USB or other drive,
you can save anywhere "
Been there done that...history lesson over.

But when you use Shinobar's Grub 4 Dos or the Hirens version
it is a nightmare to save anywhere else in Puppy 5 versions.

And I also want my boot options back....in all versions.

I defy anyone to do it.

And when you do...post your boot menu.

"""""""""

" I thought 5.25 sounded better as the number of the release than
5.23 did."

If you are in the Benevolent Dictators Association that is a rite of passage.

Chris.

525

Changed hostname to mypc, no problem in /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname. I notice shino cam up with a different fix, but it doesn't matter, the fix we have is fine for lupu.

Checked Iron in browser-installer, fine, checked other progs with any 'iron' chars in the description, fine, checked nvidia driver fine.

This is the Official Release of Lucid Puppy 5.25.

Lucid Five Twenty-Five

A Five Digit Update from Lucid 5.2
The Ultimate Expression of the Lucid Vision

Lucid Puppy 5.25 is the most leading-edge Lucid ever. It has Bash 4.1.0, Syslinux 4.03, and e2fsprogs 1.41.14, the latest from Ubuntu Natty. It now has JWM 500, up from 493. Gnumeric 1.10.13 is a necessity because our very own yarddog had posted a bug to Gnumeric that is corrected in 1.0.13. Lucid 5.25 uses the Woof of FEB 28 replacing the Woof of NOV 28 for 3 months of progress in Woof development. All of the favorite Puppy programs are there in their latest versions. Check out Pburn by zigbert which now compares favorably with Nero Linux. Gnome-mplayer 1.02 compiled by our own ttuuxxx is a substantial improvement and now works well with both the Openbox and JWM window managers. All this and the the low overhead that makes Puppy fast and the friendliness that makes it fun.

More in the first message of this thread. If you downloaded lupu-525.iso you have the Official Release now.

I made some pets in 525 for Audacious music player.
Billtoo, My favorite music player--the one that does everything I want. The one I am listening to right now. If you do not mind I will combine the pets and post the combined one in PPM. The latest we have is 2.4.0 now. Thanks. (But I am not sure I will do it tonight ;-)

Suh-weet! I really like the 5.2.5 number as well. Everything I've run this evening seems really solid. Installed Xorg-hi without a hitch.

Playdayz - again, thank you for coordinating this release. You are one heck of a Trail Boss. Congratulations to ALL the developers for a fine addition to the linux...well, hell....the computing world.

Shouldn't Lucid Pup threads be in: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/index.php?f=43?
abushcrafter, Probably so, but when I started I didn't know much and put it in the Puppy Projects section.
