Sub_title: Observations raises questions

Before beginning I want to be very clear on this thread's mission.
  • In absolutely no way, is this to be viewed as an attack on WARY or any its off-shoots.
  • This is an insight, using WARY, in some things I have observed using the video tools it provides us.
  • And, this thread's intent is to open eyes and elicit discussion on video performance in Linux/Puppy
I want to begin by saying that Barry did all of us a service by including GLXGEARS within his WARY distro. This allows any of us to start our video trek by getting a "baseline" before system changes are made. (Thanks Barry)

I am enclosing 2 reports:
  1. A Hardinfo report of a Laptop running Shinobar's WARY 5.1.1q RC
  2. A report of the several GLXGEARs run from the desktop of this distro.
In the GLXGEARs report, you will notice multiple "# glxgears" runs with a comment following each run.

ALL efforts that you see in the reports are from a "pfix=ram" perspective of a LiveCD system. (about as Pristine as you can get)

What I found was a beginning which was markedly better than ANY other attempt to improve the system's video performance.

Here's what I think can be gained in this thread: A discussion on video measurement and hopefully some recommendations on successful methods in determining how to best identify what works when starting from the base distro's startup on any PC.

P.S. Every PUP Distro should contain a tool to gain a system baseline. GLXGEARs in WARY is one
