DNS change
I seem to remember that JameBond made a PET for DNSMASQ earlier this year. This might be useful for your needs.chrismt wrote:I was wondering if there is DNS changing utility available.
Edited: After review, this might be an overkill. It does so much more and requires configuration file changes that are probably not setup for your needs.
Hope this helps.

Well, originally it was a fresh install as an ISO burned to DVD. It was the fresh install which recommended the nvidia, which I then installed. Then we communicated and I removed the nvidia and installed the Xorg High, which is where I am now, as I write this.playdayz wrote:Yes. Was this an update or a fresh install. If it was an update can you do a fresh install, with pfix=ram? Thanks."For your Intel video card, GeForce 6800 LE we think the best add-on driver is Lucid511_nvidia-260.19.12 driver. (...)"
That is wrong, and did not happen in 256 or 257.
If I go to Quickpet v4.3 now, under the changed and working driver, I still get the wrong video detection and wrong recommendation. Fresh or unfresh, that has not changed.
Lupu 521 RC
I noticed when I installed the latest Seamonkey from quickpet it said it would put it in the Document category when in fact it put it into the Internet one as it should. The PET package probably needs fixing as it might be confusing for some.
I also noticed the Seamonkey HTML editor is under Documents.
Otherwise it's all working very nicely here.

Where did the Retrovol icon go?
I have a frugal install of 257 - 5.21 later today..
I reduced the volume to zero and after a reboot, the Retrovol icon has disappeared from the tray. This has happened twice. How do I retrieve the icon? Is this unique to me? Will this happen in 5.21?

Forgot to add that my sound is now muted and I don't know how to fix it...

You need the 2 sfs files from here

Probably would be a good idea to read through this thread for some good tips on Puppy/Trinity

@Sage, please explain the dictionary comment, does it relate to Eudora? or 521 as there is nothing been mentioned in the Eudora Bugs Topic about it, else I would have already chased it up.Sage wrote:EudoraOSE1 running nicely - always the favourite of professionals; downside is I'll have to adjust it's defective dictionary one more time!

Can you do one more thing please? Open a terminal and enter lspci and then copy the VGA Compatible Device line to a message. (To copy from a terminal left-click, drag to select and then *middle-button* to paste.)"For your Intel video card, GeForce 6800 LE we think the best add-on driver is Lucid511_nvidia-260.19.12 driver. Folks, the GeForce 6800 LE is listed as a nvidia 0x00C2 in my specs sheets, not Intel so the nvidia driver I think would be right!"For your Intel video card, GeForce 6800 LE we think the best add-on driver is Lucid511_nvidia-260.19.12 driver. (...)"

@RandSec, can you go here:

Choose "VGA Compatable Controller"
"Put" what appears in the box below into your response, it may help.
thanks

If it is *really* an nvidia and not an error in the look-up tableFolks, the GeForce 6800 LE is listed as a nvidia 0x00C2 in my specs sheets, not Intel so the nvidia driver I think would be right!
I think it is probably an Intel chipset and the Xorg_High will work to give Open GL (GLX Graphics), but the Nivida pet would install but not do anything.
However, if it is an nvida chipset, then the nv driver will work with Xorg_High, just not very well. The Nvidia pet would also work, though, in that case.
For anyone interested the same is true of radeon graphics from ATI. Xorg_High will work as an open source solution, and work well enough to use--but not be able to do some things, Really Slick Screensavers, for instance. But the ati catalyst driver does it all.
.
You have to make sure you run Xorgwizard after installing a new video driver.RandSec wrote:Here it is:playdayz wrote:Bizarre. It was not anything intentional--things are very much inter-related and a change in one place can have unpredicted consequences. After you install the Nvidia driver can you open a terminal and type "glxgears"?On a modern Core i3 processor, which has on-chip video, with both 256 and 257, Puppy Video Wizard probing suggested the Xorg High driver. In contrast, 521RC, on the exact same equipment, finds "GeForce 6800 LE" and recommends the nvidia driver. That driver does seem to work, but a last-minute driver change seems a little disturbing.

This is the closest I have:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 12)
I do not know how to cut/paste the box, and I cannot even capture it line by line. Here is the PCI Devices selection line which selects the box:scsijon wrote:Folks, the GeForce 6800 LE is listed as a nvidia 0x00C2 in my specs sheets, not Intel so the nvidia driver I think would be right!"For your Intel video card, GeForce 6800 LE we think the best add-on driver is Lucid511_nvidia-260.19.12 driver. Folks, Just found this url:http://www.h-node.com/videocards/view/e ... r--rev-12-, that may explain the problem, the last sentance is the important one, ?does our i915 driver contain the kernal module as well, otherwise the Intel driver with xorg-high would be "best fit".
The Ubunti forum has a couple of topics on it too, not closed their either.
The OpenSuSE forum has gone further: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get- ... phics.html and contains other url pointers that may help.
This is the most important one:http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_HD_Graphics!
