luci 257 so far so good. Liberation fonts I like. Still working with tempestuous on my Linksys WUSB100 wireless fob. Installed Firefox 4 pet, watched a sneekylinux vid with no problems. FF4 seems to start faster than 3 although I never timed it before.

I dunno, I can get a open network which has 32 percent strength. but i can connect it with Puppy but I cannot browse anything.
I rebooted, and went into Windows XP, and I can connect it and also browse.
Why is it? Any idea?
My USB modem is Alfa AWUS036E and driver is available here
http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=105397
After further analysis, I realized it is actually Realtek rtl8187L on the inside

Me too! I still keep the last version for a few days but never need to go back to it. Actually I did some spring cleaning recently and deleted all other pups on the laptop. Been using macpup and studio on the big box though along with 5.2. So far the lucid series has been awesome.

chrismt, Is this new problem with luci-257? What browser are you using? TOR? Try a different browser please? Thanks.

SWare Iron on Luci 256 Subject description: Running without a problem |
|
Hi All,
Sorry I'm late to the party. Just caught the discussion re Chrome, Chromium, Iron yesterday afternoon and got curious. So even though I'm not a big fan of those --don't like their look, petty of me--- I downloaded the latest Iron tar.gz from SWare, get it here:
http://www.srware.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2293
and decompressed it in mnt/home.
This is the March 20th build, said to run 60% faster.
As it ran from mnt/home without any hassle, I packaged up a small pet for those who want a menu entry.
I recall Stu90 and, I think, Lobster mentioning how quickly an installed Chrome? ate up 100 mg of SaveFile. Has that been solved? If not, than I'd suggest the best place to run these browsers from would be outside the SaveFile, even if this means they couldn't be used a Puppy's default browser.
I've downloaded 257 and will start to play later.
Caution: The pet only creates Menu entries. It requires that an Iron.tar.gz be downloaded and unpacked to /mnt/home before the pet is installed. Iron from SRWare, currently, will not run in Puppys NOT based on Lupu or Lucid.

I did a frugal install on my Acer netbook and it doesn't see the
builtin wireless or wired network adapters, it does work fine with a
linksys usb wireless adapter plugged in (rt73usb).
Fluppy13,Snowpuppy14 and Fatdog64 work fine on the netbook. They all
have a newer kernel, guess that's why?

Showstopper for me Subject description: keucr module not present |
|
Sorry I am late to the party. For me, there are three essential elements that need to be in place for an OS to be useful. These are: (1) can connect persistently to the internet; (2) the mic, speakers, video and webcam work satisfactorily and (3) can access via the multi-format card reader, an SDHC card with all my data (accumulated documents, spreadsheets, iso's, pets and sfs's).
The good news is that I can connect easily to the Internet and the connection is remembered and that video, sound (my mic and speakers - after playjng with alsamixer) and webcam all work, which is better than I can do with lubuntu 10.10.
The bad news is that the kernel version being 2.6.33.2 the kreucr driver is not included and that this is still the case even with the udv_151 pet installed.

myke. I believe you mean keucr kernel module driver. Which is needed with acer aspire one for internal sd card reader.
It compiled easily for 2.6.35.7 kernel. I think it will compile as easily for 2.6.33.2 kernel ?
