4) installed Firefox 4 RC1 and updated to FF4 Final within FF (shouldn't the final version be provided instead of RC1?)

8) Used ALSAMIXER which showed muted sound and HD-Audio-Generic under card and correct chip under chip. I unmuted the sound (though not possible for PCM - no box under the volume). I tried Mplayer, not really expecting it to work, and it hanged as per usual when attempting to play 2barks.au (or any other sound file)
Yes on Firefox.

On sound, Do you use F6 in alsamixer to see what sound devices are available--then you can choose one and turn up the volume. Pmusic that is installed by default and Audacious in PPM can both allow you to play to different devices. In Pmusic it is File -> Preferences -> Sound Card. Audacious is also under Preferences. This should be done *before* running alsawizard, if you do, because after running alsawizrd only one sound device is configured--at least in my experience.

Tasgarth, Is that all that's left on your hard drive by any chance? I'll check that.

I was just able to create a 512MB lucisave file on an ext4 hard drive after booting the Live-CD.

Sorry it's that, partition sda7 was full after pupsave 257 :o :?
I deleted old pupsaves and old luci sfs. Now large space for luci258, 259 children...

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... -Lucid.pet

Firefox 4.0

Default Firefox font is set to DejaVu Sans. If you would like to change to Liberation it is Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> Default Font.
(Interesting to me--I tend to prefer DejaVu Sans on the Desktop, but in Firefox think Liberation might look better. That could be because Liberation uses the exact same spacing as MS fonts and web pages are designed for MS fonts???)

To update Lupu PPM: Quickpet -> More Pets -> Update Lupu PPM

don't know if this has been mentioned, in the roxfiler options, setting the icon grid step to medium, pushes the text of the drive icons slightly below the taskbar Image

In developing 5.2, 01micko did convince me of the value of a "relaxed development cycle." It would have blown your mind the couple of times I released on two consecutive days! 256 has been out for a week hasn't it, or 5 days at least. I am trying to post between 5 days to a week now--In 5 days people usually find about 10 or so changes, which I think is enough for the next version. We are getting very close here--probably the next is a release candidate unless we find something nasty. Thanks for helping.

P.S. We make jokes, but the pace of development does matter, or can matter, to the quality of the final product--so it is something theoretical that deserves discussion, imho, not that I have any answers. We slowed this one down because of suggestions from the testers.

luci 257 so far so good. Liberation fonts I like. Still working with tempestuous on my Linksys WUSB100 wireless fob. Installed Firefox 4 pet, watched a sneekylinux vid with no problems. FF4 seems to start faster than 3 although I never timed it before.

I dunno, I can get a open network which has 32 percent strength. but i can connect it with Puppy but I cannot browse anything.

I rebooted, and went into Windows XP, and I can connect it and also browse.

Why is it? Any idea?

My USB modem is Alfa AWUS036E and driver is available here

http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/ptl ... ory=105397

After further analysis, I realized it is actually Realtek rtl8187L on the inside
