i18n in pppoe, ptorrent and partview |

Gettexed some scripts. Maybe some more tests of these scripts needed. I don't have pppoe and did only partial test of ptorrent.
Also xgettext in m08 doesn't work. I use devx.sfs of original Wary.

At the moment I am with warym08 without pupsave
Having loaded-on-the-fly wary_devx_500.sfs it works
Code: | # xgettext
xgettext: no input file given
Try `xgettext --help' for more information. |
Hope this helps to find out where there is bug if any

Thanks for multilingual wary.
I have a rather sheepish question. How do I activate the IME while I'm in en_AU.UTF-8 locale?
You see - I'm thinking to learn a language that requires IME (scim, or equivalent), lets say Chinese (or Japanese for that matter - for the sake of discussion this is the same). Now I can't read any Chinese or Japanese yet, and if I change the locale to ja_JA I'm doomed because all the menu will change to Japanese (I won't be able to switch it back to English, I think). I'd prefer to stay in en_AU, for example, but I'd like the ability to enter Chinese or Japanese using the IME.
Is this possible? I know you build multilingual wary for one who already know the language - but I thought it would be useful for someone who is trying to learn another language too.
cheers!

IME(scim) with english locale |
|
jamesbond wrote: | How do I activate the IME while I'm in en_AU.UTF-8 locale? |
In general, your locale should be registered in the file '/etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules'.
By the default, only CJK locales can use scim, but you can add your locale like this:
Quote: | "/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules/im-scim.so"
"scim" "SCIM Input Method" "scim" "/usr/share/locale" "ja:ko:zh:en" |
In the multilingual Wary case, it is done automatically.
You need the wary-500m08.iso + lang_pack_all-0.3-w5.sfs, from here and here.
To set the locale to 'en_AU.UTF-8', choose 'en English' at the Country Settings. You can check on 'UTF-8 encoding' at the next dialog.
Starting IME is Ctrl + Space key.

SNS moved |
|
I have never got success with the SNS.
Recently tested the ndswrapper with the SNS. Found the SNS does not remove the previous module which fails. Therefore, the PC freezed.
I moved SNS from the usual place. You can run the SNS from the special menu on the connectwizard if you want to use.

How to remix the multilingual Wary for your country? |
|
How to remix the multilingual Wary for your country?
Basically, install your lang_pack and remaster.
Some note on the files under /etc /root and /usr/share/doc.
- /etc/profile ... LANG
- /etc/keymap ... keyboard layout
- /etc/localtime ... link to the timezone info
- /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.jwmrc ... part of menu
- /root/.jwmrc ... menu
- /root/.jwmrc-tray ... part of menu
- /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin ... desktop icons
- /root/.jwm/jwm_locale ... keeps current menu language
- /root/.packages/woof-installed-package ... should keep the installed lang_pack record
- /root/Startup/fullstart ... to be excutable
- /usr/share/doc/welcome1stboot ... to be reset excutable bits
- /usr/share/doc/home.htm ... shall be copied from /usr/share/doc/help/LANGUAGE_CODE/home.htm

localisation projects |
|
Zigbert has just localised 'pschedule' which would be useful
to include for a distribution like Wary Multilingual.
I've localised mtpaintsnapshot.sh for German French and Spanish.

I noticed that Fluppy 13 by Jemimah uses the application 'Xarchiver'
which is localised.
Having all these localised programs would be a nice feature.

Testing 5.04rc from Shinobar |
|
Testing LIveCD and all functions tested seem fine. Goes to desktop and discovers LAN card and sound cards without issues. Really like the fact that it goes to desktop setup screen and my LIveCD has GRUB4DOS at boot.
I have a question though: Barry's WARY has Code: | -Version-
Kernel Linux 2.6.32.28 (i686) | while your version is Code: | -Version-
Kernel Linux 2.6.31.14 (i686) | Can you share why there is a difference? Just trying to understand.
Thanks in advance

russian /usr/share/doc/nls update |

I have updated po-files in /usr/share/doc/nls and added ru-line to two .desktop files.
xgettext wasn't working because I used old save-file with new installation. With new save-file everything works.
