Game AlephOne Marathon2

This is an old Doom-equivalent from Mac-OS computers.
Marathon is a trilogy, I included Part2.
Part 1 seems to be multiplayer only.
The gamefiles are a "remake", so Part1 has no singleplayer because of compatibilityproblems, if I understood it right.
Part 3 "Infinity" can be added manually.

Download (23 MB):
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Games/AlephOne.pup
It adds an entry to the Dotpups-menu.
In the game itself you can change screen-resolutiion, and if to use OpenGL or not.
I compiled it without speechx-support (voicechat).
I included a readme.txt that lists all keycodes.

In any case you will need the OpenGL-library, also if you play in software-emulation only:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/XServer/DRI/OpenGL.pup
or
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/XServer/DRI/OpenGL-B.pup

I suggest to use my 3D-wizard to install the OpenGL-files and additional graficsdrivers with 3D-accelleration:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=7775

You also need libSDL:
(438 kb):
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Games/LibSDL1.2-forDoom.pup

-----------------------------
To play Part 3 (Infinity):
-----------------------------
Download and extract
http://alephone.cebix.net/downloads/Ale ... 1.0.tar.gz

copy these files from infinity to:
/usr/share/AlephOne/Infinity

Images
Map
Music
Shapes
Sounds

Then create a symlink:

cd /usr/share/AlephOne
rm -f game
ln -s Infinity game

Then run "alephone"

A 3D game repackaged for easy installation in Puppy in less than 8 hours - that's dedicated, if not real hard work. :D

Thanks, MU!

opengl.pup OR opengl_b.pup ??

#3 Post by PeterSieg »

Hi Mark,

sable now works with 24bit colordepth. Bur VERY slow! unplayable..?
I have downloaded the opengl.pup from your site...?
Or should I have downloaded opengl_b.pup??
If I need opengl_b.pup, must I deinstall opengl.pup first?

I have a webgine PIII-1100MHz with 256Mb Ram and SIS630 graphics.
3d-wizard says DRI is active..?

Thanks,
Peter
Have fun :)

try OpenGL-B.
You don't need to uninstall the other on, as B just replaces one file.

raffy, it just took so long because of the "boost"-library, and because I had to search for gamefiles that were not packed in the Mac .sit -format.
Boost took an hour or so to compile, and unstripped it was 400 MB or so.
And only for a small static library the game needed for compilation tztztz...

....thanks man.....i download it later but i got dial up.....so would it be possible to repack the pup file so it only installs Alpha one and not the game files....oh and Marathon one is not multiplayer only it is complete remake (single player and m.p.) i got the files and running it on Winslow.....so if you could that would be great and save server load...

http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Games/AlephOn ... e-only.pup (830 kb)

With marathon 1 from here:
http://alephone.cebix.net/
http://alephone.cebix.net/downloads/Ale ... 1.0.tar.gz
I just can click on the multiplayer-options.
But the buttons in the middle can not be clicked.

Maybe I have set up something wrong?
If you have success with your marathon 1 , could you provide the link where you downloaded it?

But it is not important for me, I prefer quake ;)
