Pidgin and msn
I just installed fluppy 12.
My pidgin config is always outside the save file environment, so I can use it with any puppy version.
With flupy I tried to connect to msn, but got a message about invalid certificate.
I checked the msn configuration and to my surprise msn protocol isn't in the list of supported protocols.
But with the same protocol icon as msn, I see a wlm one.
What is this?
Why can't I use msn with fluppy?
I tried in Lucid 5.20 and have no problem connecting to msn.
How can I get msn in fluppy?

WLM has more features and it should support MSN just fine. If not, let me know why the MSN plugin is better.

Thank you for the info.
But not being a µsoft adept, what is wlm? Some other µsoft thingy?
Why isn't there continuity if one changes from one fluppy to another one?
Isn't there a possibility to have msn as well as wlm (what ever it is) in fluppy?
As I don't know what wlm is, I can't reply on your question why the msn plugin is better. I am not an IM specialist, just a user of msn to communicate with friends.

WLM is short for Windows Live Messanger which replaced MSN messager years ago.
If you read the link, you will see the the msn-pecan plugin is a replacement for the msn plugin. There's no reason to have them both.
Just try it with your normal MSN credentials and see if it works. There's not continuity because these are alpha/beta/experimental releases. I change stuff around to see what works best.

Fluppy013 is now ready.
This is largely bugfixes and minor enhancements.
update: grub4dosconfig, sfs-load, firstrun, pupsaveconfig, modem-scripts, wireless-tools, flashplayer, Frisbee
fix: dhcpcd, gweled, snapmergepuppy, notifications, PUI, PPM, pmount/drive_all, init-script
remove: spek, sebie
I've increased the SFS limit from 6 to 10. SFSes now load when clicked.
The saving script is faster and has fewer bugs.
I've added the rt3070sta driver - I do not know if this will be more stable than the in-kernel rt2870sta driver.
I rebuilt the kernel and compiled in fbcon and turned on modesetting for intel and radeon. Hopefully this will fix problems with the nouveau driver from fluppy 12.

Quick manual frugal install of 013 on the Nvidia box which had problems with Fluppy 012.Successfully went to a 1440x900 desktop on initial boot this time.
Everything appears to be working correctly so on to more testing.

Attempted to setup pwidets....it looks like it's all there....but does not show up on desktop. Had same problems with 12....if I installed pwidgets then they showed up.
What am I not doing correctly?

Don't know if it's your problem but in Fluppy it's necessary to start Pwidgets before they appear.Working fine on 013 here.

Duh.......thanks....I should carefully look at screens before I lesp.
Now, in Fluppy 13 I no longer see both processors in the pwidgets cpu bar,
They both show up in the Hardinfo.

Sorry one should read the first page on this thread and not look into the OS itself.

Jemimah and all of you. Embarrassing. I fail to get which pet of Firefox I am supposed to download and install.
From search I found a pet but nothing happens after install. Maybe it is made for lupu520 and fails on Fluppy? I guess you want me to go to Puppeee and look there?
I have tried three versions now and none works to to get me the latest 3.6.13 the PPM even after update does not have any firefox.
James thanks indeed for telling me this Now it works here too. I had no idea one needed to do that trick.

I was going total nuts failing to get the widgets started and despite your heroic description I had no idea how to do what you show. But now I know

F-13: Sound was OFF by default when I upgraded FULL installation? Got an oversized cursor, too!

I only set the sound levels in pupmode 5. This is so the system will remember the sound levels you set. Otherwise you will always have the default levels. But I'm not sure how to tell if it's the first boot of a full install. Maybe there's a better way to set the sound levels. I'll think about it.
Yes the default cursur is now the large high contrast one. Several people mentioned that they couldn't figure out how to change to the big cursor so I made it the default. I suppose it is more difficult for people who can't see the small cursor to change to the big cursor than vice versa.

Pwidgets and Dual Core Processor |
|
In Fluppy 012 pwidgets 2.3.4 correctly shows 2 cpu bars for my system.
In Fluppy 013 pwidgets 2.3.4 shows only 1 cpu bar for my system.
Hardinfo in both 012 and 013 show both processors.
Can I assume that both processors are active and 013 is not reporting the second one to pwidgets? If so, it's a minor anoyance. If not, what needs to be done to make both processors active?
Thanks
Thom

You can check it with:
Code: | cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep processor |
