run from here once installed (Ubuntu version works on Lucid 5.2)

Note this is Chrome not Chromium so has Google tracking built in. On Lucid 5.2 I prefer to run Chromium installing it from the Ubuntu deb. Here in the UK I use this repository location but you can use a local repository:

http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/chromium-browser/

This one works for me on Lucid 5.2 but not Quirky or Wary:
chromium-browser_9.0.597.94~r73967-0ubuntu0.10.04.1_i386.deb

You will of course need to edit the chromium-browser.desktop in /usr/share/applications.
