Thanks wow that was advanced.

I trust a lot of users in future have use of such details.
sometimes it takes many hours to find such info when one use google to find others with similar problem and how they got it solved.

Like when I failed to get spotify going in Knoppix. Another guy had exactly same problem as what I had but unfortunately they just dismissed him instead of helping him out so he gave up and most likely found another distro that just works. Like Puppy :)

hi GrumpyWolfe
i've been watching reboot ,poweroff, and the savefile since your post. So far they are working as expected. Reboot and power off offer no surprises. Saving to the save file also does its job flawlessly. That's it so far.

I had some hangs with the delay for xserver to shut down but was doing some compiling and other stuff just wanted to see if it came up under normal use.

decoder_priority=6 changed to decoder_priority=10 did get me sound

thanks for taking time to tell me that info.

But sadly the sound is out of sync which it is not on the other puppies. No offense intended. Could be good to know if others ask you the same.

I really like this release. The only issue I am having is getting tapping to work on my trackpad. Scrolling works, but I can't get tap to work. I am using the synaptic driver. I select tap, but it just want take. It worked fine in lighthouse pup. Thanks.

Figured it out. Had to go to wizard wizard and click the check box to allow tapping. Then restarted and it worked.

Well thought I had it figured out. I have to go into fisynclient after each reboot to set it back up. I am saving it, but it isn't sticking after a reboot. Anyone know how to correct?

It is an Aspire 5102. I got them to stick by manually editing the xorg.conf file.
Seems to be working fine now.

Gentlemen the problem is one I meant to correct for this rc and did not will fix before I release the final it has to do that Xfce does not use the start-up foulder and that is where the decman for fisyncliednt is started. Will be putting in the Xfce start up and that should fix the problem.

Puppy Package Manager

#54 Post by oligin10 »

Hi Grumpy, great looking product. Just a quick question. I cannot seem to use Puppy Package Manager. I have several pets I keep on my flash drive. MyWolfe is having a problem with them. I cannot seem to install them. When I double click on them, they will not install. I tried to open them with Package Manager, but I cannot seem to open them that way either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rob

I did a frugal installation of wolfe028 to a partition and tried to run it but failed to start the X window. When I tried to set my LCD display with xorgwizard, it still didn't work. Also tried 'probe', 'choose' and even 'vesa' mode, trying to get it work, but all failed.

I have installed Quirky/Lighthoush/Fluppy in the same partition (under different subdirectories) and everything seems okay when booting them using Grub2.

Anything I need to do to get wolfe028 running?

Start up the puppy that works and go to Menu system and Hardware info something and do pci and look for graphics? I guess Wolfe need to know what graphic card your motherboard think it use. some have it built in the mobo integrated and some have such separate.

Maybe it has to do with kernels. that is why they make Wary it has a kernel that works better with older computers and Fluppy works better with new small Netbooks 10" or such small ones.

Snow Puppy has tried to combine the best from many so try that one too.

But first get to know what your computer have. Mine have Intel 945 graphics chip set. Maybe yours are ATI?

Many thanks, nooby.

My graphic card is a very old one - ATI Radeon RV100. In fact I tried to load ATI when using xorgwizard to set up Xorg, but it didn't work.

I will try again because I really like the wolfe's puppy linux + xfce combination.
