The way I usually get nv to work on 2.14x, is that when the xorgconfig starts I select, 1024x768 and when it has the ok or test screen, just click ok, don't bother with the test at all. then the screen goes black/blank for a minute and then it opens up.

Hi ttuuxxx, Thank you for the new release pal.

A minor small problem found, there is no Boot image or F3 boot options. You forget to add the "logo.16" and "f3" files to the ISO.

I´ll continue to test it...

Greetings,
clarf

ttuuxxx, that's wonderful! Best wishes to all, especially your wife.

I'm downloading the TOP-6 now, hope I can just replace the pup_214X.sfs, etc files, which are in the root of /initrd/mnt/dev_save (/dev/hda6)

All advice is welcome!!

Thanks,
Sheldon

Hey ttuuxxx. Your beautiful baby is most important, please take your time my friend. :)

No problems found so far with Top6 to launch basic applications, Firefox beta 4 seems very fast and stable. Although to be honest, I´ll need some time to get comfortable with the new Tab distribution, I never used Chrome before for this reason... but I think that, it´s the standard now.

Tried 214X6 live cd. Runs nicely on my 600MHz, 256MB computer.
Installed the Canon printer driver for my i965 printer, which is attached to an XP computer, then installed the printer. Works fine.

What does not work is reading my email on my ISP's webmail page. I can see the inbox, with a list of emails, but I can't open them.

gerry,

I just booted frugal 2.14X TOP-6, and am running Opera 10.63 (can I use 11.01?)
Read Gmail message OK.

Maybe your browser "file associations" or such?

Please excuse; I usually don't know what I'm talking about.

Two more inconveniences with 214X6: I need to modify the iso to include the acpi=force boot option, and how do I import my bookmarks? I keep a copy of the Seamonkey bookmarks in a file, which I import to Seamonkey in new Puppies or new Seamonkies, but I can't see how to do it with this Firefox.

EDIT: remastering the iso is a pain- no cd burner on the Puppy computer. But the Seagull is back!!

I just gave it a try, it hasn't affected game play I don't think but it sure looks different.
It's missing a few backgrounds.
It's still fun to play :)

Its not missing any backgrounds, I did change the largest 95kb to a carbon 17kb carbon fiber one I made with gimp, probably could of reduced it to 4x4 pixels since it just repeats the image, to fill the background. I also recompressed most of the larger backgrounds. to save on file size. and I changed the default setup background to a green background with 2.14X on it :)

Hi ttuuxxx

I made a pet of xine-ui-0.99.6.tar.bz2 in
214X top5.
I had to compile ffmpeg-0.6.1.tar.bz2 and
xine-lib-1.1.19.tar.bz2 to get it to compile but
when I rebooted with pfix=ram to test the pet
without the devx loaded all I had to use was
the xine-ui-0.99.6-i486.pet and it worked.

I couldn't get it to create a menu entry so it
has to be started with the run command on
the menu with the 'run in terminal box ticked'
or just by entering xine in the terminal.

It plays dvd movies and audio cds, also mp3
and ogg files.

@sheldonisaac- thanks, but I suspect it's that "User Agent" thingy. Possibly the ISP doesn't recognise Firefox 4.
