I use pianobar in AntiX and wish to use it in Dingo also. I tried googling the error message with well minded search. But No good hits for that error. Pianobar in wellminded search only turns up my above posted pianobar link.
I don't want to poke and hope my way through pets to see if I get lucky with a codec package (if I need that because I don't even know what that message means) . Lastly for grins. A noob e shout. Help
My Dingo below
Edit: Wondering if shinobars http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=57886 will fix this or will it break gxine and vlc maybe? I can play DVDs with stock config is why I am cautious.

Sorry, I don't have the answer for you. But if you're willing to play with other puppies, I just installed the same pianobar pet to Lucid 5.2 and it runs like a champ.
(I've been looking for something like pianobar for ages since I hate flash!)

Thanks for the reply. Thats cool. I guess I could try Lucid. Thing is. 4.31 would not boot (after install, The famous can't find puppy.sfs error) because of Puppy kernel issues on this IBM . Hence the Dingo Install. I'd hate to blow this away as I can watch DVds on Dvdrom. Wireless works via pcmcia. I have tweaked this to use Kazehakase Browser and Sakura terminal with bash 3.0.1.
I'll be booting into AntiX 8.5 which pandora works in very well when I want to listen to music I guess. Just take my time trying to sort this out in Puppy 4 in the meantime. Only Have a 20 Gig HD on this unit.
| Code: | # df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 5.0G 3.1G 1.7G 65% /
tmpfs 124M 4.0K 124M 1% /lib/init/rw
udev 121M 260K 120M 1% /dev
tmpfs 124M 4.0K 124M 1% /dev/shm
/dev/hda4 7.7G 966M 6.3G 14% /home
/dev/hda5 5.1G 2.7G 2.2G 55% /mnt/hda5 |
So things are kinda tight as far as room/triple boot.

Welllllll. After trying like heck going through pianobar sid package repos and looking at dependencies and seeing I had flaac, fadd, and other stuff installed.
I booted up Lupu 5.1.1 and checked to make sure sound and wireless works. It does. So blew away Dingo. Bit the bullet. And did a frugal install of Lupu 5.1.1 to sda5/hda5. Edited AntiX grub menu. Posting now from booted up frugal install using SeaMonkey 2.0.5. Guess I'll be building this one to suit my tastes.
For starters. No DVD icon in Desktop drive Icons manager (will google later).
At least it installed, Booted, Connected Wireless OK. Now on to alsamixer and try pianobar again. Wish me luck.
