In lupu520's DOTconfig-k2.6.33.2-27MAY2010-LUPU-SMP-TICKLESS the following is specified
Code:
CONFIG_NR_CPUS=4

while in Q140's DOTconfig-K2.6.31.14-25OCT2010 it is specified:
Code:
CONFIG_NR_CPUS=8

Couldn't that config option be the culprit?

Almost certainly, imho. These are from the kernel sources?

Anyway, just my nooby woof thoughts Shocked Smile;
- JFS module did not disappear by me erasing exotic modules (don't have a jfs drive to test, though).

The missing modules did reappear though when I unchecked Erase exotic modules Wink They are in the pet above (but look in 520, they are not there)

I'm keeping track here and posting the most important fixes in the main post.

So far there is
1)the jfs fix, also perhaps if there are other modules missing that may have been present in 51x
2) the unetbootin work around.

Cheers

Subject description: this works so well.

It's all working well for me. I had some trouble with 5.1.1 with some media programs not working and some missing deps. However, it's all working as it should with 5.2

Haven't come across things that worked in 5.1.1 but not 5.2. Even e-Sword minimizes and reopens, which is more than just a bit helpful.

Haven't tried Gimp yet, and that could be the problem. We'll see.

Good job everyone. Thanks for making it possible.

Bones

Hi Playdayz

I don't know if this is the sort of thing you're thinking of, but the battery monitor (?) on the task bar isn't working. This is the first time I've used it unpowered since installing 5.2 so only just realised it isn't working. Hopefully I'll be finished before the battery is Smile

When i go : Menu\Desktop\Desktop Settings, then the submenu does not go to the wright direction, it goes to the left as in the attachment.
Fixmenus did not fix it, any idea?

Subject description: trouble with uninstalling .pet

Good morning everyone

I installed GimPhoto 2.4.3 from a .pet that I had on file, and was pleased to see that it seemed to work well, but wanted to use the full Gimp. So, went to PPM, clicked on the listing in 'Installed Packages' and went through the routine to uninstall.

But it didn't.

I've now grabbed the full Gimp .sfs from Quickpet sfs get, and that has installed, or so it seems, but won't load up. It is in /mnt/home as it should be, and when I check the bootmanager it is where it should be. But when I go menu>graphics>GNUImageManipulationProgram it is still GimPhoto 2.4.3 that opens up.

I don't know if this is a Lucid 5.2 issue and will post this elsewhere on the forum if needed, but any help would once again be appreciated.

Bones

Apart from the virtual desktop issue already mentioned by capoverde the only bug I've come across so far is that Quickpet recommends the Catalyst driver for my ATI Radeon HD3450 card, but I couldn't get it to work. Xorg High-GLX seems to suit my card, and gives good results in Google Earth.

The current .config is found in puppies mostly at /etc/modules while every other distro puts it somewhere at /boot .

Tray size and virtual desktop number selection works OK for me in JWM configuration.
Are you sure you are not in OpenBox when trying to make changes? Also you must restart JWM for the changes to be made.

That is the "right" recommendation by Quickpet, but, well, you know... Xorg_high is also appropriate for HD radeon cards. I am glad it is working.

Can anyone tell me how to get PUP5.2 LiveCD running so that the taskbar ONLY shows what's running in the active Virtual Desktop instead of show all task in all desktops?
Thanks in advance

In live CD fbpanel configuration controls the taskbar.
menu>desktop>desktop settings>fbpanel configuration>taskbar tab
show all desks
Select false
select main tab
select OK
This setting should stop showing all tasks in all desktops.

I often use Gimp and it works well.
I tested GimPphoto with a prehistoric lupu-lucid (six months old). The system crashed...
Gimp and (or) GimpPhoto no longer working. So I was forced to delete the pupsave to put again a previous saved pupsave.bak (only with Gimp).
Currently (lucid 5.2) I use Gimp-full-2.6.10-lucid.sfs very often for photo retouching. It is stable.

PostPosted: Thu 13 Jan 2011, 20:40    Post subject: FULL install cannot boot

I booted from the live CD, and ran the install wizard.
FULL install on SDA3 (Win7 on SDA1 and SDA2).
wizard completed successfully, identified Win 7, created the config for GRUB4DOS and everything seemed to be ok, until trying to boot... Sad
Win 7 still boots OK, when selecting it from the grub4dos menu.
When trying to boot puppy, I get:

Booting Lucid Puppy 520 (sda3/boot)

setting root to (hd0,2)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3 ro

Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format

now, the partition size is 256MB, and I have tried it twice!
partition created using Gpart launched from the install wizard.
partition was created as the default ext2.

can anyone help?!

Thanks!
