Hey guys, I compiled Wine for spup, it's here. There are more packages I compiled yesterday - I worked till 3:00 (I know I'm crazy), went to sleep and woke up at 13:00 to continue the Puppy work
It's 1.3.11 and there's a menu entry for winecfg, plus rox mime-type handling for Windows/DOS executables, plus "Open with" for wine.
My hacked rox is messed up but I just fixed the PET, now I'm rebuilding my LZO-compressed spup. Besides the Rox issues it works and it's goddamn fast. The funny thing is its size - it's 129 MB while the gzip flavor is 115 MB - it has Opera and Flash, plus some libraries from firefox to make browser plugins work. Opera is 9.5 MB, the Firefox libraries are ~2 MB and Flash is almost 5 MB. Do the math
I want to make three flavors of this baby - one with LZO compression, Opera and Flash (for most users, especially Opera and the out-of-the-box kind of puppians), another with LZO and the browser installer (for those who like the speed but hate Opera) and a third flavor with gzip and the browser installer (for those who like the Quickpet agenda, those who hate Opera and those who need a small Puppy due to lack of RAM, flash drive size, etc').
EDIT: maybe I'll make a LZO flavor with Firefox too.

Hey 01micko, I just noticed powerapplet_tray is broken under my spup build with 2.6.36.2, so here's a nice replacement I found. It also has a CPU frequency tray icon for extra uber-coolness

Here's a new epdfview, I patched it to disable the resizing: it's stupid. When you resize the window, it resizes it to the size in the configuration file and saves the dimensions.
JWM doesn't like this, window borders are cut and the window jumps. Here's an epdfview that doesn't jump or save its dimensions: it opens in fullscreen each time you start it (good if you use it to view documents).

I just bought www.iguleder.info and I'm moving my repo there. I compiled even more stuff:
- acpid, with battery handling
- new Rox, extra-hacked
- shared_mime_info
- isomaster
Now I also intend to recompile 2.6.36.2, which is incredibly awesome. This time I want to add modem drivers. |
Glad to hear you are back and all is well

Igu! Good to hear you're alive and in one piece.
Installed transmission from PPM, needed libevent-1.4.so.1.

Hello, fellow spupians !
My apologies, if it looks like I'm derailing this thread - actually, I'm not, it all pertains to spup .
I was following Iguleder's instructions on how to compile a kernel, decided to go for the longterm 2.6.35.10 (mostly because current slackware is using 2.6.35.7 - trying to stay somewhat up-to-date and future-proof) in order to build a spup kernel for my slack-woof builds.
Followed the instructions up to (Have replaced 2.6.35.9-bfs with 2.6.35.10-p) | Code: | Compile the kernel image:
make bzImage
The kernel image is named “bzImage", but Puppy calls it “vmlinuz", for historical reasons.
Compile the kernel modules (this takes a long time):
make modules
At last, the kernel is ready. | and all seemed swell.
Continued with | Code: | Now, install the kernel modules to a directory, which will be turned into a PET package later:
make INSTALL_MOD_PATH=linux_kernel-2.6.35.10-p install
Pay attention to the directory name; I named mine “linux_kernel-2.6.35.10-p".
The prefix (“linux_kernel”) and the kernel version (“2.6.35.10“) are obligatory, just put your kernel’s version number.
The rest (“-p") is up to you. | and all I get is | Code: | # make INSTALL_MOD_PATH=linux_kernel-2.6.35.10-p install
sh /initrd/mnt/dev_save/linux_kernel-2.6.35.10-p/linux-2.6.35.10/arch/x86/boot/install.sh 2.6.35.10 arch/x86/boot/bzImage \
System.map "/boot"
/initrd/mnt/dev_save/linux_kernel-2.6.35.10-p/linux-2.6.35.10/arch/x86/boot/install.sh: line 49: /boot/vmlinuz: No such file or directory
cp: cannot create regular file `/boot/System.map': No such file or directory
Cannot find LILO.
# | Where do I err?
Cheers /

You may find Barry's way easier.. though Iguleder's would probably work, I haven't tried.
Barry's instructions: http://www.puppylinux.com/development/compilekernel.htm

Hey tubeguy,
I am following Barry's zzz developments there, sound isn't perfect for me either. 055 has the latest zzz so it may (or may not) be better.
If there's any more sound issues I may drop the zzz scripts for comparison purposes in 056
Thank Iguleder for the PrtScn key binding, part of his xbindkeys .
Cheers

I just ran out of CDs.
Sound is OK in Teh Grey, do you know if it's the same zzz?
