Opera Question

#1 Post by DaveS »

Am I the only one having major problems printing from Opera? Scaling is wrong, same job repeats over and over, and text boxes are just gobledegook. Unusable!

I use Opera only and have since it first appeared, and now ver 11..

It's the best browser, but I don't try to print from it.

It's never worked right, and I just burned through a dozen sheets discovering that's still true. If I can't get it right probably others can't either.

I've never tried, but as a workaround maybe you could print to a pdf file, and then print that?

Thanks Henry. Just confirms what I am already pretty sure of. Dig deep enough and there are reports of this all over the internet.

But why would I bother when Firefox has it nailed? Such a shame... such a great browser so deeply flawed for anything other than just displaying web pages..............................

Opera is a suite like SeaMonkey.
I wonder if printing an e-mail message would fail also.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Google results suggest that it does fail most of the time.

I am currently on Ubuntu and can print from Opera 11.00 final (build 1156). I will try Lupu and Wary later.

DaveS: Which version of Opera are you using and which Puppy?

Searching the Opera Forum http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ I see that there was a printing corruption bug in some earlier versions.

Using Opera 11 with both Lucid and Wary, same result. Here is a sample of the kind of thing I mean:

This looks like an encoding issue?

I went to the Opera support site and picked one of the many strings on printing problems:

Take a moment to read this and you won't be looking in Puppy for the problem.

Terryphi.. could you try this page http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/system76- ... time/43063 No need to waste paper, just print to PDF then open the PDF in a viewer.

Tried saving the page as a single document and opening later for printing. Same junk.

I have build 1156.

DaveS: I have tried printing 1 page on Lupu519. Yes, it is junk.

However, if you validate the webpage you will see that it is also junk!

I rarely feel the need to print pages from a browser but when I have printed from Opera I have encountered no problems.
