Hi all,
I've listed this under the House Training - Bugs section, but had no response. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=63305
Perhaps someone here can help.
I re-installed Lucid 5.1.1 Frugal the other week, but now have no multi-media programs working. Gnome Mplayer opens up, but won't play any audio or video files.
VLC and Aqualung won't even open up.
SMplayer starts, but I keep getting this message with all sound and video files regardless of format:
"MPlayer has finished unexpectedly. Exit code: 127"
The fact that nothing is working suggests to me there is a problem in my setup, not just with the software itself. But I'm not sure where to look.
any suggestions will be gratefully received.
I have discovered that PMusic and Pcd - CD Audio Player do work. But still none of the others.
I ran the Alsa Sound Wizard, and heard the obligatory barks at the right time.
I also have Quirky 1.00 installed. and everything works fine there.
I have found that I am missing ffmpeg dependencies. Is that the issue? Here are some screen shots, to show what is missing, although I have d/l all ffmpeg things from PPM.
The other screen shots compare shots from Lucid and Quirky when I type 'ffmpeg' into the console
Lucid is using ICEwm, but had the same problem with JWM, so I don't think that's the problem.
Any options or help would be great.
Thanks
(Changed the screenshots so they are correct now.)

I had cause tonight to use the live-cd tonight, and Mplayer seemed to work there.
Why would that be?
Can I re-install to make a change, and if I do how do I make sure that I don't lose anything that I have?

Thanks for your comment Bruce, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I confess I'm one of those users who doesn't know what it means to build software or code etc. Is that what I need to do?Bruce B wrote:ffmpeg coders are obvious ubergeeks but a little krazy or something I think
it generally works best for me building with default ./configure

Good thought. I had already given that a go, but thought I'd try again as suggested. Unfortunately no success.abushcrafter wrote:Me thinks you should try the Alsa Wizard.
I get the bark sound, but can't play any files.
