Updated the frugal install on the old P3 from 218 to 219. Looks like the update went smoothly. One little thing, Streamtuner is showing up in "choose default browser".Otherwise it's looking good.

Regarding updates from one test version of Lupu to another, remember that an update from, for example, Lupu 518 to 519 will usually go through smoothly. What we need to continue focusing on are updates from 511 to 519 - and if possible 511 saves that have been used for a while rather than ones freshly created in 511 and then updated straight away.
From the testing I've been doing recently, I found it an interesting reversal of the normal pattern of events that I had more trouble upgrading my 5.1.1 lupusave on Merlin (Pentium D) than I did with trying the same thing on Zhaan (K6 2 500). The pupsave on the former is, IIRC, the original save I created in 5.0.1. The one with which I've been doing test upgrades on the K6 was freshly created for my Frugal of 5.1.1, and hasn't really been used a lot due to my preferring the Full Install of 5.1.1 on that machine.
The fresh frugal of 518 is still working nicely on the K6 by the way so it would appear that the lupusave boot problems I had been having are a thing of the past.
Haven't tested 519 yet on either machine, but I intend to report back tomorrow.
Happy New Year everyone!

For awhile there, I was almost sorry I made such a fuss about the issue several treads back but...
Presently (today) Puppy is running "Number 3" in Distrowatch. I do believe now when this 5.2 hits there and the word gets around... it will be just a short time before it's #1 on their list.
And... it's because of guy's like you and the others involved in this project "that made it right" that it will be a "TOP PROGRAM" for Linux users for a long time to come!
You all have something here to be proud of...
Best of luck and a very "Happy New Year" to all! |
your very much welcome and thanks for the praises

Subject description: K6-Pack change needed |

Since the ttuuxxx version of Gnumeric is now included as part of Lupu, it no longer needs to be included as part of the K6-Pack.

hey there i just recently installed this puppy on my sisters girlfriends dell latitude D400 and it works great
however there is one problem i found and that is when you close the lid everything freezes and turns to black screen with a mouse cursor and you cant do anything or quit to command line. the only option is to hold down the power button and shut down/reboot.
is there some microswitch in there that is telling it to sleep but puppy is not actually sleeping?
is there a workaround for this?

Here's a homebank with OFX support, and all the extra's included, Probably best for a repo item
I usually only make this package around once every couple of years.

I remember something similar happening to me and it had to do with ~.etc/acpi/events. I don't see that folder on my system but maybe on yours it's there. If I remember correctly I just took out the lid switch stuff. YMMV.

yea thats the same problem i have. there is tons of documentation on stuff with /etc/acpi and all that but it does not exist?
i know its possible to do acpitool -s (after you download it of course) and then close but i wanna get it so the lid doesn't screw it up every time you close so its easier for this person im trying to convert
any other ideas? im trying out some stuff like the acpid pet that's floating around.

PlayDayz, hope it is okay to ask.
Fluppy boot each time.
Lupu only boots if one have booted fluppy or snowy puppy first.
Can one somehow borrow the ability to boot from Fluppy and make use of it in Lupu.
Pemasu borrowed Jemimah's drivers and so on and made Snowy Puppy and that one boots each time too. The only two out of some 20 Puppy that do boot each time.
Would it not be great if one could borrow from Fluppy that capacity and add that to Lupu?
I am not alone having small Netbooks like Acer Aspire One and all of these seems a bit different to each other and my D250 seems among the tricky ones.
What do you say?
