thanks, could you please add your /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
You can pack it to a .tar.gz with xarchive, then add as attachment.
Also it would help me, to get the results from this Dotpup:

If you get something going for puppy2, It would be nice if set-up things like this could be included in the ISO instead of being downloaded. There could be a folder on the CD that includes stuff like this and other drivers and modules.

Kirk, which DRI-module do you use for that card?
I currently almost finished the installer for r100 and r200 Ati-chips in Puppy2.
It installs full 3D-support in some seconds.
Now it depends on the feedback, if it will work with other cards.
It will download modules from the web, if they were not copied manually to a subfolder, so you might use it without internet-connection if you burn all modules to a CD and copy them there.
I might add a fileselector later.

here is a first working version of the 3D-Driver-Wizard.
http://dotpups.de/tests/3D-DRI-wizard.pup
It includes Kernel-modules for Puppy2, if you have Puppy1, then you can delete the "26"-subfolder.
Simply run it from the Dotpups-menu.
You will need a working internet-connection, as it downloads DRI-modules and for Puppy1 Kernelmodules.
Some notes:
There are no "new" drivers, it just automates the installationsteps from the stuff collected there with some autodetection:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=5244
It also modifies xorg.conf for you.
Nvidia is not supported.
I am not shure, if ATI-cards are detected correctly.
My Radeon VE7000 works fine.
New models (R300) will not work.
SIS - cards: there are only some supporting DRI, the Wizard will not check it.
But even if they are not supported, the additional 3D-stuff should not disturb.
Savage IX: tried it in Puppy1, does not work. I don't get any errors in Xorg.0.log, it just does not use the Kernelmodule.
Mach64: not supported in Puppy2 (no Kernelmodule yet)
Via: in Puppy1 you can choose between the Mandrake and Openchromeversion, Puppy2 has no openchrome-Kernelmodule yet.
tdfx (Voodoo?) seems to work for Lobster in Puppy1.
intel: partially tested, might work (i810 was reported ok)
(i915: http://www.puppyos.com/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?p=519#519 )
If your card will have no DRI after installation or not be supported, please post
/tmp/3Dwiz-testresults.txt , and possibly attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Mark

Mark, at first sight it appears that Puppy2's modules-complete collection already contains (DRM) modules for DRI ... but someone on the developer forum reported that their i915 required the latest DRM modules from http://freedesktop.org/wiki/
So at some stage I think we need to compile and host the latest modules. I will get around to it if you don't do it first.

I took the modules without changes from http://www.puppyos.com/test/all-modules ... 6.7.tar.gz
Feel free to recompile, I already was waiting for you
We also could need mach64 and unichrome.
And a xorg-module for R300, which now is available on freedesktop.org (I think you already compiled one in the past, but did not release it due to missing Kernel 2.6).
I would like to concentrate on the wizard itself, and on the xdg-menu project, so I'd be glad if you could provide me with files I just have to integrate.
Don't hurry though, I'll go asleep soon.
Thanks Mark

the first version had a serious bug.
Please install the new one.
http://dotpups.de/tests/3D-DRI-wizard.pup
And important: Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.local
Remove the line
/usr/local/3D-DRI-wizard/resource/rc.sh
The line without an " &" in the end.
This line caused my Puppy1 to hang after rebooting, when I had turned off power.
If you already encountered this problem:
Boot puppy, and hit "ctrl-c" before the DRM-module starts loading.
That gives you the console.
There type:
mv /root/.etc/rc.d/rc.local /root/.etc/rc.d/rc.local-old
and reboot.
sorry Mark

Mark,
I rebooted ram only and tried your wizard. When I click on test DRI it pops up a xwindow that says "DRI" with an OK button. When I click on install drivers it says " ERROR Graficscards: ati not supported, exiting...". This is running from 108.
I'm using radeon_dri.soKirk, which DRI-module do you use for that card?

the current Ati-check searches Xorg.0.log for a "probe"-line with "ati".
Then it looks in this line for "100" "200" "mach64".
If that is not found, it stops with this error.
Please post
/tmp/3Dwiz-testresults.txt
And possibly attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log
This applies to all ATI-users!
My Ati-check is terribly "guessing", and I need as many configs as possible to see the structure behind it.
