Gnumeric 1.10.12 is healthy.
Thanks! |
yes but I downloaded that link posted above and its a repackage of debian packages, the plugins have the all the dev files, still has the man packages and about 50% documents are debian related documents not actual gnumeric, plus being a debian gnumeric it would be around 30% larger than need be. It uses extra libs that add extra deps. If playdayz is serous that he still would like a few extra KB this wouldn't be the way to go around doing this.
I'll see what I can do.

Here's a Gnumeric I compiled on luci, its 1MB less extracted than the previous posted above. I removed the a few deps that puppy 4 series didn't need to run gnumeric and from what I've seen it works fine. Actually its a bit smaller and newer than the quirky version which is always nice to see
you need all three apps to run it, It replaces 3 apps in Luci.

Next if you want any of the dev, locales, doc's they all can be found in this folder http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/Luci-Upup/Gnumeric/others/

Make sure the new libgsf doesn't break stuff - I compiled the latest wv/libgsf/goffice on spup and Abiword failed to compile. Some stuff that depend on libgsf show errors.
The older gtk could be the reason, though

abiword still works, because its the same model number just a slightly newer version lld abiword ---> libgsf-1.so.114 => /usr/lib/libgsf-1.so.114
luci version libgsf-1.so.114.0.16
new version libgsf-1.so.114.0.18
should be 100% ok, I tested abiword before uploading the packages and it worked just fine.
If anyone wants me to compile abiword without Goffice just ask.

I've been looking at the compressed sizes
Luci ubuntu goffice 1.4MB
my goffice 817kb
gnumeric-1.10.1-lupu 7.7MB
my gnumeric 2.298MB
libgsf-1-114_1.14.16 151kb
my libgsf-1-114_1.14.18 103kb
total
Ubuntu/puppy repo 9.251MB compressed
traditional puppy way without extra deps, doc's 3.218MB
6MB compressed saving compared to what was in Luci 238, when I check the actual installed packages list.

I just check how long I've been running luci 238 straight lol 18 days 2hours 17mins without a crash or reboot, I started with a 12GB pupsave and now its down to 3GB due to all the compiling etc. Probably have to remake a new pupsave tomorrow before I run out.

Been looking at GL games, you need to have an accelerated graphic card (ask Santa) and download the driver in Quickpet
My favourite which was working well is Gridwars 2
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=441449&search_id=47270692#441449
Then I tried
http://www.planeshift.it/
Beware - free game but without broadband - well it is over 400MB
and I had to register, update and create a character with their suggested name, then there was a tutorial - I could have been there for ever . . .
Great for Christmas fantasy no doubt . . .
I got it working - you could too
As we are releasing for Christmas do we need more games?
What is working?
Next stop? . . . The Realm of Mystara

Lucid 244 run action issue |
|
Lucid 244 run action issue
When clicking on a file and no run action is specified an error message was issued to go to set run action.
This was so up to Lucid 243.
Now in Lucid 244 when no run action is available for a file type, this error message isn't issued anymore and the search why this happens started.
Noobies might not have the reflex to see if a run action is specified and will be kinda lost.

Save Feature Subject description: To save or not to save |
|
A feature I myself (and I'm sure many others) would like to see in Puppy...
After the first run of Puppy, when shutting down, you are asked If You Want To Save This Session then... To CD or To HD or NOT To Save. This feature would be nice to include in "Every Session" thereafter just before shutdown. It shouldn't take up much space since the commands are already in place for Puppy?
Lots of times you just do research on the net, maybe play a few online games or something than doesn't require a "session save" so why use up space with all those unnecessary save session files? If not feasible, maybe at least a Save or Not Save for the CD function to save space?
If not possible for 5.2 maybe a future version!

I'll second that. I often load it up to try something, only to decide I don't want it kept.

This is why you want two frugal installs - a stable version and a testing version.
It's easy to set up. Put each in its own folder and modify your GRUB menu.lst accordingly.
Or are you talking about a multi-session CD?

Any session.
I often don't know that I don't want to save the session when I start it.
It doesn't have to be an asked question every time, but the option to leave without saving should be there.

Here's a version of abiword that works with/without Goffice and dictionary is turned on by default. I added most used plugins, kind of like like Barry used to do, to keep the overall size down.
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/Luci-Upup/Abiword/No-Goffice/abiword-2.8.6-noGoffice-i386.pet
Here's the rest of plugins
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/Luci-Upup/Abiword/No-Goffice/abiword-2.8.6-ExtraPlugins-i386.pet
and here are some of locale extra parts that usually get disregarded
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/Luci-Upup/Abiword/No-Goffice/abiword-2.8.6-NLS-i386.pet
Here's the difference of installed size
abiword-2.8.6-lupu| 22.092MB
my abiword 9.668MB
or around 12.5MB less installed
ttuuxxx
Ps if you move Gnumeric to the repo with Goffice this will still work. and save you about 3.1MB compressed.
