Today a few words about "everything"..... To open "everything" it's menu-run everything. To configure "everything" open the settings panel and go to the extensions tab.You can also configure the components of "everything" here. Most of the actions are double click.

Image

Image

After opening "everything" type ? and you get some instructions for using "everything"

Image

If you just type a few letters of an apps name you can launch that app by double clicking on the apps icon or on launch.

Image

If you just type / "everything" turns into a file manager.

Image

using ctrl left or right will let you move through the plugins. settings will give you all of the e17 settings.

Image

Places is like a file manager .Home is the root folder and wallapapers is in /root/.e/e/backgrounds.

Image

Here is all the plugins. The web plugins work best with firefox."everything" will call other browsers if you set it to but they wont load the page.

Image

If you select applications in the plugins just type a letter and it will list all the apps that start with that letter. You can launch them from here.

Image

This is just an intro to all the stuff "everything can do.

This is something I possibly should have covered already. The shutdown/reboot options in the e17 menu do work. But the other options don't. I still recommend using the exit icon on the ibar.It works better with puppy.

I have installed the red themes, but when I scroll down the list they are is some text where there is normally a small picture/icon showing the wallpaper used in the theme (by default) there is a blank space, so I click it anyway & clicked apply - nothing changed.

They looked great in sneekylinux's video but do not work for me.

What was the name of the theme?

Make sure you only use themes that are in the MP511-themes.pet. If the .pet doesn't start with MP511 you cant run the theme without running edje_convert on it first and parts of it will be messed up like the setting panel. If it's an old theme like night-bling or grunge it will crash this build of e.

Sneeky has not done a video for the MP511 themes yet.

The name of the pet file was/is Red-themes.pet, the theme just changed to black text, grey boxes, white backgrounds but the desktop wallpaper stayed the same.

Maybe you should create a folder just for 511 themes & other files, encase somebody else has the same problem in the future (I am not trying to be rude) but there will probably the same problem with the new (testing only at the moment) 520.

Important note about themes, Due to changes in the edje file format older themes need to be updated for use with this build of e17. For themes less than 6 months old you can run edje_convert on and they should work but the setting panel may be messed up.Themes older than that have components edje no longer supports and will crash this build of E.

I had no problem reading that.

Actually this is a great chance for me to explain how to convert backgrounds and stuff.P123 you can use both of those themes and the background until I get updates built. Open Rox and go to root/.e/e/backgrounds. Open a terminal there and run this:

Code: Select all

edje_convert Macpup-Red2-bg.edj
You can then load and use that background.

Next go to root/.e/e/themes and run this:

Code: Select all

edje_convert Macpup-Red2.edj
And then :

Code: Select all

edje_convert RB-Macpup.edj
You can now load and use those themes But the shelf in Red2 will be messed up a little and the settings paned in RB wont work. You can still access settings in the "everything" module in both themes.

I will try the above later, as I have never used the terminal in Puppy before more than a few times in Ubuntu.

One other thing I think wood5.pet works without the above as I was using it on Thursday night - a screenshot will be posted later. If anyone can prove that I am wrong this post will be edited by me.

I have updated one of the red themes. The other, Macpup-Red2 , doesn't want to play . I will try to import everything into a new theme later. So I made a extra background with it's wallpaper. The MP511-themes-7.pet is now up on my macpup page. It has the red theme and two backgrounds.

extra background:

The other background is the same without the animated E logo.

Max I haven't had any problems with this builds battery meter with the laptop we tested on. You can adjust the setting for it in the settings panel under the Advanced tab -Battery meter and then advanced again . If it still doesn't work for you remove it from the shelf first then unload the module. Then load and add the systray module and use the puppy meter.

Now that's something I really like :) I really don't like dark backgrounds, but light grey is always nice :)

When I tried to change my keyboard to compaq presario there were no entries for any keyboards. Can I use the ones from 5.1.1 and where are they located?
