trying to print w/ HP - psc2110 (USB)

#1 Post by cenzo79 »

hello,
i am having trouble getting my hp psc2110 printer to work on puppy.
here are the steps i have taken so far;
- used the print wizard to determine that driver "pcl-900" is what works fo my printer, and configured the driver.
- used the "add printer" tool to install the printer; for interface used "local port", and for device used "/dev/usb/lp1" (then tried lp0), but with no luck.
now i figured that it is one of two things, either;
(1) puppy didn't load the proper module for my usb ports, similiar to what happened w/ the audio module.
in that instance puppy loaded "snd-intel8x0" for nvidia n-force onboard sound (turned out to be a module i had to download from forums - nvsound.o.gz)
OR
(2) i am not entering the proper device name, and neither dev/usb/lp0 or 1 is correct.
for reference, when i click on "usb view", it clearly says "PSC 2110 series", so puppy is recognizing something.
any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

no need to respond.
went to bed, started from scratch the next day, and now it works.
tried to retrace my stepsand see where I went wrong the first time, but can't figure it out.
