Do you mean you want to run Puppy on a Windows machine whithout rebooting PC?
There is One Click Puppy 4.3.1 in Windows.
You can replace the Puppy based on this. But it runs too slow for usual use.

I would format the usb pendrive to ext2 (marking it bootable) using Gparted

Then I would install grub from 511 to the usb stick using the grub installer

Make the following entries in the grub menu

title 511 frugal
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz pmedia=usbflash pfix=copy
initrd /initrd.gz

title 511 Live
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz pmedia=usbflash pfix=ram
initrd /initrd.gz

Then copy the 3 files vmlinuz, initrd.gz and the 511.sfs to the usb stick, it will then boot with either option,
But if you make a save file the 511 frugal option will load it, and the 511Live option will just load 511 similar as from a cd (no save file loaded)

It will be slower than loading from a hard drive but will be quicker than a cd.

If you decide to make a save file, that can take some time.
At the moment I am trying to use pupmode=12 so that it will write to the usb stick in real time and not just at the end of the session. But would not advise it as I dont yet know if it will shorten the life of the usb drive.

There are many ways to put Puppy on a USB Stick. Here are 2 that have worked for me:

OPTION 1
Boot Puppy from the CD, click on Menu > Setup > Puppy Universal Installer and follow the steps. This method leaves the USB Stick in it's original FAT32 format, and uses the USB Stick's original Windows bootloader to boot into Puppy.

Since I have an Acer Aspire with a password protected bios which I can't access and
the F12 boot menu doesn't give me an option to boot from USB,

CAN I :
put these lines into the GRUB which loads normally off my hard drive?
does 'rootnoverify' mean that it won't actually look at (hd0,0) and does
'pmedia=usbflash' mean that even though the grub list is sitting on my hardrive
it will then look at USB instead?


in other words can I get grub to boot from flash instead of the bios looking for a boot file
OR
am I just shooting in the dark here?

I have a flash stick all loaded with Pup that boots from my other laptops just fine.

well because is its more prolific window around i like to have ways to run my puppy on window without to boot from bios it is and issue if you have got access to boot menu.
but i know reading around i can used quemu maybe other way ?
im looking for the quick way .
for me puppy it is the best promise on linux look to me other just follow the same route than window a very heavy complex os full of useless stuff
