Ubuntu font family |
|
The latest Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat uses the Ubuntu Font Family as its default. It's a very solid looking font, so I tried it in Puppy. Big improvement IMHO
Attached is a pet package for it.
To install it as the Puppy default go to Menu->Desktop->Chtheme and click the font button on the lower LHS of the dialogue.
Edit: this is now the latest pet for this font. See lower down this thread for details of the modifications made to the original.

I personally had already installed it by copying the fonts in the font directory, but thanks anyway for your pet

First of all, nice fonts! .. Small too
Can you consider putting some sleep in the pinstall, or even a longer delay on the Xdialog message so the pet finishes installing on older kit before the call to restartwm?
Also, in the pinstall can you put in a couple of lines to run mkfontdir and mkfontscale?(In the installed directory ). Some apps need this to display these fonts correctly.
Cheers

@01micko
how much sleep do you need? (pardon the pun!)
5 maybe?
OK will modify the pinstall.sh as u suggested. I'll do this later today after the visitors have gone. Panic LOL. The wife needs to print out something and CUPS in Quirky 1.3 has decided to take a holiday - again.

5 days would be nice if it were possible!
sleep 5 should be ample, maybe 3 would be enough, no need to wait too long
Cheers

Any clue why xfce (QuirkyNOP) does not switch to this font when set in the dialogue? Its odd really. Firefox is able to use them so they are seemingly correctly installed.
No problems in Wary/Quirky

OK, here is a modified pet for the Ubuntu font family.
The pinstall.sh script now runs mkfontscale and mkfontdir and also runs sleep 4 before restarting X.
This font gets installed to:
Quote: | /usr/share/fonts/default/ubuntu-font-family |
