Subject description: Feedbacks welcome

Lucid Puppy Quickset edition(LupQ) is an alternative of the Lucid Puppy Linux(Lupu) 5.1.1. LupQ holds the innovative feature of Lupu, binary compatible with Ubuntu Lucid, 'choice your browser' with Quickpet, and goes directly to the desktop. But LupQ goes further beyond it. Adding many features, more user friendly, more flexible and universal. Yes, LupQ is basically multilingual. more...
Visit the Lucid Puppy Quickset edition home for the detail.

The Lucid Puppy Quickset edition 511 now available!

Merci beaucoup charlie!
Of course you are the best contributor.
The PS/PDF problem you pointed was a great contribution to our LupQ and the solution is now also implemented on the Lupu 5.1.1.

Félicitations à notre équipe.

Frugal installation of LupQ-511 with new save file looks good but still has problems:

1. It has same problem as mentioned before about mouse click focus being improper with DuDE-0.4.1. I'll try to clarify the problem. Note the attached desktop. With the mouse click options as shown, the proper action is that a left click anywhere on the desktop (except on an icon) will open the programs menu which it does. However, clicking on an icon, should execute that icon. As you can see, clicking on the home icon opens the program menu. RestartX will correct the problem temporarily, however, if there is a left click anywhere on the desktop other than an icon the problem returns.

2. Another serious problem is with firefox which gives this error when run from a console:
Code:
# firefox
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libdbus-glib-1.so.2: undefined symbol: dbus_watch_get_unix_fd

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks for testing JIm.
But I cannot reproduce your problems.

As for DuDE, I am not used to and iI don't know how to configure it. I have just tested with the default settings and found no problem.
Hope someone investigate this problem.

Firefox, I cannot find any error messages. I installed the firefox form the Quickpet. Can be conflicting with some other additional pet or sfs?

Saw these PET/SFSs in your folder

Quickset looks and sound interesting. I am downloading now.

Have these all been tested with Quickset too.?

I failed to mention that it is firefox-4.0 beta which does work fine in Lucid with the same applications loaded.

Bonjour ginu.berg,
welcome!
Quote:
want to know if Lupq has a Python interpreter.

Have a look in Menu/Setup/Setup Puppy/Puppy Package Manager/ in Puppy-Lucid repo (checkbox checked n the above right corner of the dialog bo), under "Utility" (do check corresponding checkbox):

find there Python-2.6-Lucid given as Python interpreter.

Cllick on it and it will be downloaded and installed (provided the internet connection is working !)

The same Puppy Package Manager (short = PPM) allows to get a wide variety of programs : click on "Configure Package Manager" to access more repositories among which the ubuntu repositories.

Have fun
Cordialement, charlie

Thanks to all reporters.

Regarding additional applications, you have 4 options.
  • PET's from the Quickpet and from the Puppy Package Manager(Puppy-Lucid repository):
They are tested on Lupu, and should work also on LupQ.
  • Packages LupQ special available from here:
All tested on LupQ. Some may not work other than LupQ.
  • Ubuntu Lucid packages:
Expected to work on LupQ. You need to resolve the dependencies.
  • PET's for Puppy 4.x, and other packages:
Some may work and some may not work on LupQ. Encouraged to report to this topic if you think it a useful information for other users.

Hi, jim.
Does your firefox fails with this error or works even with this error?

The shared libraries on LupQ is striped off the debugging information. It may cause trouble when the applications run with debugging mode.

I made a pet to add more right click options.
I added the rar archiving program since it fit in nicely
and the extract-pet program.

Additionally I tied in Abiword since it can open several file formats.
The usual archives and packages can be opened.
Video files are opened full screen. with
the command 'mplayer -fs filename'

I just did a full install. Working well so far-no issues. I see you included grub4dos instead of just grub. Why is that?
