I noticed in FAQ that you use the term Bookmarks button or icon.
The Tooltip correctly says 'Music Sources'
The 'Bookmark' questions in the FAQ should probably be rewritten after Pmusic 1.2.0

A warning to users of Lucid Puppy.
I have been using Shinobar's version of Lucid Puppy 5.1.
He removed lots of unnecessary files to slim it down.
Unfortunately this has resulted in some problems especially with fonts.
xfce has a problem running on it as well, which affects Pmusic and gnome -mplayer .
He seems to be working like a madman to fix it all.
He's already on his fifth update in one week. Is this the
new world record?

Pmusic and gnome-mplayer wouldn't work at all (just short buffering message).

Try to edit "/usr/local/pmusic/func_player", replace "aplay -D plughw" with "aplay".

I worked hard last night and tested Pmusic 1.3 and
compiled the latest mtPaint 1.34.55.

DOWNLOAD HERE

It will open SVG files which I find useful.
Both are amazing pieces of software.

___________________________________________________

Here's the features that I tested that worked correctly using luci 218
(which has just been released).

1: File that was renamed by Rox Filer was described by Pmusic as 'not found'
2: Jump to time
3: Show elapsed time/remaining time
4: Calculate Playlist time
5: Show Rox-Location
6: Turn off Tooltips
7: Trash recent and most played lists
8: File can be Bookmarked midway thru playing
9: Playlist can be a Bookmark using save dialog
10: New Playlist icon worked as expected
11: Tray icon works as expected
12: Two Asunder playlists opened correctly, one was WAV and the other OGG
songs
13: Playlists opened correctly either with Pmusic file browser or with Rox Filer
scripts
14: Going back in history worked as expected
15: Copy files worked even with special characters
16: Folder names or playlist names that accidently found themselves on a
playlist could be easily deleted with right click

Next post the bugs

PostPosted: Tue 24 Aug 2010, 18:17    Post subject: Pmusic 1.3 bugs and oddities

Here are the things that are wrong or are strange oddities.

I tested on seven different versions of Puppy and with three versions I didn't see the navigator window interface option (see picture)

The versions that didn't have this feature were Lighthouse 4.4.3, lighthouse5
and the latest Luci 218. I don't use this feature anyway.

_________________________________________________________

When the ripping of an Audio CD is proceeding, a simple splash screen
'Pmusic 1.3' is shown to user. It should say 'Please wait for work to finish'
or else do like Ubuntu and have five horizontal lights blinking sequentially
which shows that some work is being done.

..and once the ripping has finished how do you get these songs to appear on
a playlist. I believe Apple iTunes automatically puts these songs at the
head of a giant list of songs (called a 'Library') and the user is supposed
to make a playlist from this giant list. If Pmusic could put the ripped songs
on the tail of the current playlist that would be nice. Another possibility
would be to save the playlist info along with the songs, just like Asunder does.

_________________________________________________________________

Bookmark Manager has a feature where the individual bookmarks can
be dragged to a new spot on list, but on rare occasions I find that
all the Bookmarks on the list disappear. It is so rare that I can't reproduce
the bug. I would recommend getting rid of this feature and instead have a
preference option to arrange the bookmark list 'Alphabetically'
which some users might find useful.

____________________________________________________________________

Here is an oddity. To choose a folder for a Bookmark, the filebrowser requires the
user to just select the folder, whereas the Burn/rip/convert target directory
must be selected by going 'inside' the directory with the filebrowser.

________________________________________________________________

It might be nice if the burn/rip/convert directory was automatically made a
bookmark

_______________________________________________________________

How do you eject an Audio CD? pCD has a eject feature which works well.
Pmusic needs that as well.

__________________________________________________________________

The CD icon in window ----> The Tooltip pops up with an empty field

________________________________________________________

I tracked down a bug where the final two songs on a playlist would repeat themselves
over and over (until stop icon is clicked) (see pictures)

The common factor in both playlists is that
the final song on playlist ended with a name ending in *&

________________________________________________________

Here are some old problems that remain.
The renaming of a file with a backtick ` as final character ---> field is empty

_____________________________________________________

The tranferal of a playlist to pBurn ---> # character is a problem.
Other characters seem fine (see picture-Pburn list is on left)

_____________________________________________________________

I suggest that the icon for elapsed time/remaining time should be a clock face
such as /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons/mini-clock.xpm
Unfortunately it is only 16x16 pixels so it looks rotten.

Since the output tells that your device is busy, what is it busy with????

Hi Zigbert,

It would be great if you can make it possible to add and edit radio stations manually from RadioSure

Like this

http://www.radiosure.com/stations

RadioSure provides a text file with more than 10,000 radio stations

You can download the zip file there

I have removed the 'Navigator' preset from the pet package. This was made to reduce cpu-power, but iguleder has saved us with his tray-app.

Adding the ripped songs to the tail of the list might not be the most logical, since the playlist already holds the original CD-tracks. But giving the choice to save a playlist of copied tracks seems to me as a good idea.

Sorting alphabetically is a good idea.

I would prefer if anyone could reproduce the 'moving-bookmarks-bug' instead of skipping the feature.

Will check, the first is the preferred, isn't it?
