Oh yeah, forgot about that, I especially compiled libjpeg07 for that reason, I'll dig around and find it.

here's wbar
There's a few configuration tools in the main package and imlib2 is included, that's why it is so heavy
There are also customisation options so you can use any icons you like with out getting your hands dirty with code.
Of course you can get your hands dirty if you want because there is a manual option too.
Special thanks

Dougal

Just install the main package, then restart X. Enjoy. That's it!
Uninstallation restores your desktop exactly how it was.
Here it is:
Wbar including setup program 910KB
Note: You only need the above package
_______________________________________________________________
Also, if you want you can get the wbar package separately
http://www.smokey01.com/01micko/lucid/wbar-1.3.3-Lucid.pet 886KB
The Wbar-Setup package separately
http://www.smokey01.com/01micko/lucid/wbar-setup-0.3.pet 24KB
If you want to you can try Trio's WCC
_______________________________________________________________________
Known Issues
*font wont display when switching with the wbar icons/system icons button
*setting up custom icons can be tricky
*no vertical wbar
*make sure all paths are correct in custom settings
To Do
*fix font buglet
*implement Dougal's, with CatDude's help, coloured font routine

No Warranty!
Have fun!
Cheers

I am in rc2 using wbar and icewm
Installed Seamonkey (for a change) and just been chatting in ayttm
What I wanted to do is turn off the desktop icons
and just use wbar
click on file
right click options
click on desktop
panel only
It is the return of 'Simple Pup' [long gone until now]
. . . minimalism . . . Bugman would be proud . . .
You can in jwm also autohide the menubar
menu/desktop/desktop settings/JWM configurator
for extra minimalism . . .
A couple of points - wbar (since I can remember) is slow to start
but once running is now very stable
If wbar gets 'mashed up' in the menu during first run, try
restart x server from menu/shutdown a couple of times . . .
Thanks Mick - thanks guys

Sorry for the confusion, pd, I am, (as usual!), testing several derivs of P as well as other distros simultaneously and got confused. Yes, of course, everything on the liveCD works all the way and I can d/l the High video driver and Opera without problems (and transfer them to the misbehaving FULL install). It's the FULL that is giving grief as described - every time I end at a prompt and have to run xorgwizard. I did all the options of probing, testing, VESA, every res. offered for both monitor (up to it's known native of 1024x768) and card, nv and ati/r128, etc but it always fails back to the prompt. Tried looking at xorg.conf and a couple of directories, but I'm not very good with the CLI. The directories contain all expected but the xorg.conf doesn't look right (as one would expect). Tried <mv xorg.conf> <some of the others in that directory> but no-go on any of them (there's quite a collection now after all the fiddling). Speaking in total ignorance it seems as if something isn't getting written or called. Fixing this would be beyond my abilities without a child's step-by-step guide.
Your move!

Fn laptop keybindings missed the cut again. Just add this to the bottom of /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal
| Code: | <Key keycode="160">exec:amixer sset Master toggle</Key>
<Key keycode="176">exec:amixer sset Master 1+,1+</Key>
<Key keycode="174">exec:amixer sset Master 1-,1-</Key>
<Key keycode="178">exec:defaultbrowser</Key>
<Key keycode="236">exec:defaultemail</Key> |

Edit: Now includes 'reboot' and 'poweroff' buttons at far right as it makes sense
This .pet will install an autohide launchbar at the top of your screen with the standard desktop icons included. You can then remove the icons from your desktop, but still have them available. The bar is configurable, so you can add your own customisation as required. Built for Lucid but also works in 4.3* and Quirky.
It is dead easy to install. First, just run the .pet included here. Then open a terminal/console window, and just type and hit 'enter'
Not much will happen. A couple of lines will appear on the screen, then it will stop. Takes about 5 seconds. Close the terminal window.
Go to the menu button at the bottom left of the screen, click it, and select shutdown>restart jwm.
The screen will flash, and voila, your new menubar will be installed and activated. Just move the mouse pointer to the top of your screen, at it will appear.
Note: If you uninstall it, your original desktop icons will NOT be restored.
Under The Hood
The .pet just installs a very tiny text file into the /root/ directory called .jwmrc-tray-top, and adds a line to the menu template in /etc/xdg/templates to activate the text file. Running fixmenus configures it, and re-starting JWM makes it available. The file in /root/, .jwmrc-tray-top is a hidden file, so you must set Rox filemanager to show hidden files before you can see it. If you want to change something, just load it into a text editor and go for it. The syntax is easy to follow.
If you make edits and want to test your syntax, save your changes, open a terminal window and type jwm -p
This will check for errors for you.
If you get in a dreadful mess, just re-install the .pet

You can use the one in this thread if you like
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=439468&search_id=1998148725#439468.
In addition, HP dynamical drivers for Printing and Scanning are also included. I hope that helps.

Is it me, or are these things coming out faster then I can get them burned to a CD and run on my computer?
I would like to give some testing input, but I can not keep up.

Playdayz, and everybody...
I have made some .delta files for Lupu and others to upgrade their iso's, hopefully it will help those with low-bandwidth.
The post is here....

Just a tiny thing..... when running the xorg wizard, or exiting and creating a sve file etc, the display only uses about a quarter of the screen space and is very tiny.

I think even RC2 is good enough and has enough eye-candy elements to make Linux fans and newbies be happy.
The only issue (for me) is its poor video compatibility.
1. In contrast to Barry's puppies, Quirky, Wary and Spup, mplayer does not play sound for standard videos recorded by mobile phones.
2. In contrast to Barry's puppies, mplayer cannot play .webm files.
3. Maybe this is for ancient machines, maybe for my 256 MB Toshiba Tecra 8000 only. Mplayer produces blue screen during "playing" most of the streaming codec test files in this collection:
http://www.codectest.com/codectest/streamingcodectest.zip
It is strange that the same Tecra plays most of them well under Wary 030 (there are jerky effects in some cases but at least the screen of mplayer is alive.) Note that I also test Lupu in 256 MB virtual environment (VMware, VirtualBox) and there is no "blue screen" there - so this is not caused by low memory.
Again, this is the only annoying problem - one can ask that "all what elder puppies can play, why the newest 510 cannot"?

In RC2 can you install Openshot or Opera 10.60 from Puppy Lucid News using the inbuilt Browser (Netsurf)?
I got an error message when I tried.

Should be standard to all puppies.

Now Mister Lobster.. calm down and take 2 sardines. It should alleviate those tears.
If you tried to get Opera or Openshot from the Quickpet "News" button you'd have gotten an info message. (see attached screencap)
If not, then how did you find the site?
Cheers

Loosing save space. Lucid 509 |
|
Sometimes I loos up to 10MB in the save file. (frugal install thus)
This has started already some 'releases' ago. Don't remember quite well when it started.
I found the cause of the issue but didn't report it yet. So done now.
The reason is that ROX comes now with the option 'show thumbnails'.
This option was off before.
When going to a directory with a lot of pictures those thumbnails are created, eating up a lot of save space.
I would suggest to leave this option off as before.
