Puppy Merchandise

#1 Post by tubeguy »

Dennola4 and I have started a little project to raise awareness and funds for Puppy Linux.

There is a Zazzle store at http://www.zazzle.com/tubeguy/gifts?cg= ... 2619499894 and we will be adding designs periodically. Any revenue from the sale of Puppy merchandise will be forwarded to Barry.

Anyone wishing to contribute designs should follow the guidelines outlined here:

http://zazzle.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/85

Basically they should be 2100px for a good looking t-shirt.

I can use any image format, just make sure they are large enough. Send them to tubeguy at gmail dot com.

EDIT 1: Common Sense Disclaimer: any artwork used must either be completely original or use images only with the consent of the artist.

EDIT 2: Still getting the hang of the setup on Zazzle. Some changes cause the products to disappear for a while from where they should be.

I tend to wear t-shirts with funny sayings. I think that I am not alone in preferring funny sayings or pictures over the more serious.

Funny may also help to sell people on the idea. I have no proof of this but I like the idea.

Another idea for you is Puppy-branded flash drives - preferably preloaded with bootable Puppy.

Ken:

You're right. So I guess if you or anyone else has a funny, geeky, relevant, or interestingly random Puppy-related (or even unrelated) quip that you think would work on a tee-shirt, go ahead and post it here.

That would be cool except they have to be purchased in bulk first, don't have much extra cash these days.

Here's some logos for Puppeee. The yellow ones are by Afgs. The white one is by Sandungas.

I'd love to have a Puppeee t-shirt and stickers. If you put them up, I'll link to them from the Puppeee website.

I bought a couple Puppy shirts from the Zazzle store so I'll report back if they're any good when I get them.

I'm in the hospital with my partner, waiting for her to go into labor. The two shirts I grabbed on my way out the door just happened to be the ones I ordered off Zazzle last week. So the first printed words my son is going to see are "Puppy" and "Linux".

For stickers I though putting the site URL on them might be a good idea, what do you think of this?

Thanks, these look great!

I think the sticker design would be better with a smaller black URL or else one with a matching font. I will see if Afgs wants to make a sticker design.

Great. BTW the stickers are round, Zazzle doesn't have a square or rectangle option except for bumper stickers.

Anyone wishing to contribute designs should follow the guidelines outlined here:

....

EDIT 1: Common Sense Disclaimer: any artwork used must either be completely original or use images only with the consent of the artist.

...
Can you confirm that the white Puppeee logo is not violating Asus' rights/trademarks? Its very close to this...

Thanks for bringing this up. My first thought is that Asus would not have a problem with it, the shirts are in support of an operating system made specifically for the EeePC, and so also (indirectly) in support of the EeePC itself. In fact Asus has an info page devoted to the use of the Asus logo. They make it available for anyone to use, and provide guidelines for it's use. However there is no mention of the "Eee" logo anywhere.

I have some experience with the legalities of corporate branding and copyrights, and any company that freely provides its logo to the world in this manner is, IME, not going to care if the "Eee" logo appears as it does on the shirts.

Jemimah, thoughts on this?

It's definitely borderline. I will see if we can change it a little. I think the big E is the only thing that makes the logo at all unique.

I noticed that all Eee family (Eee PC, EeeBox PC, EeeKeyboard PC, Eee Stick, EeeTop PC, Eee Videophone) use same font type in their brands (especially the Eee logo). This is to show people that these products are manufactured by the same company. Using the same P and Eee official fonts in PuppEee logo IMO is to trick people to believe that PuppEee is part of the official Eee family (Asus' products). I believe this is not Jemimah's intention. She's too clever and creative.
