That's a funny idea. Definitely worth experimenting with. The flight voice doesn't sound much like a cow though - at least I don't think so.

Nah, no gadgets. At least not in the default run-of-the-mill Fluppy.
Of course, that's just my two cents, pennies, liras, centimes, and other inconsequential money.

I've updated Fluppy 02 to 003, by using unetbootin to install the iso on a usb stick, then using (installed) Puppy 431 to delete vmlinuz, initrd, and the two sfs files from the hard drive and copy the new ones from the usb stick.
Reboot into Fluppy, and it all worked. My Canon printer drivers are still ok (not Gutenprint, the real thing), Firefox is still working, complete with bookmarks. Wireless connected by itself. And I'm still signed in to the forum. It's great. EXCEPT- no icons! Should there be some? All I have are the drive icons along the bottom.

I am not sure if a cow voice is available for flite - clearly an oversight . . .

A talking cow/lobster is an essential tool for the terminally sane
and may help those with limited vision
(for example my imaginary psychiatrist
who has less sense than a 5 year old
- who all know cows talk)

I've been messing around some more and as usually happens with puppies would like to make some changes for me personally. There's a lot of software in the menu that I know I will never use, which I'd like to remove, and then remaster. Do you have that file that installs the list of all the packages that are there so they can be removed? I think barry usually makes a pet called 0pkgs_db-xx or something like that.
Thanks again for making this puppy, finally get to dump Ubuntu Netbook Remix.

Unfortunately Fluppy is a manual remaster and I'm not sophisticated enough yet to keep a database.
The best way to get rid of stuff is to use Edit-SFS to delete the unwanted files. But the difficulty is knowing which files those are.
If you're trying to shink the SFS, the best thing to do is delete unused video drivers from /usr/X11/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ and /usr/X11/lib/dri.
Also running Zdrv Cutter will shrink the zdrv a lot, but it will limit your options to add hardware in the future.
If you don't care about size that much, you can simply use Pmenu to remove unwanted menu entries.

Hi Jemimah
In your first post, can you please tell me what the .iso size is? ..also could you make a (maybe 5-6 screenshots) slideshow of your puppy with picassaweb or flickr or somesuch?
(with picassaweb -start the slidshow and 'grab' the url quickly)

Screenshots are roughly similar to Puppeee.

I believe the ISO is about 160MB.

Now that is the way to handle hints, tips and help . . .

download source code here . . . and link to flite if possible | Yes! Good idea. I have been thinking of posting a thread about the idea of audio speech feedback using flite.

A example of use:
When ram space is low you hear "Warning you have **.**MB of ram free."

Subject description: Remastering Fluppy |
|
Greetings to you all, beautiful Fluppy people!
I encountered a problem remastering. I guess the name of the sfs file has to be flp-003.sfs, whatever the remastering program asks you to write...
I also had this problem with Puppy Bruno. See here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=53119&sort=lastpost&search_id=1716088371&start=45
The solution is the same (except the name of the sfs file, in this case: flp-003.sfs).
BFN.

Upon second reading, a light-bulb lit over my head!
So ROX would have
1) an "annoying panel auto-hide feature"
2) "that doesn't work if your panels have stuff in them"
Kindly explain...
In other words, does this mean that ROX has by default hidden panels that "unhide" when you put stuff in them? And I thought my brain was ok. Strrrrraaannggge...

Hello again, jemimah.
Almost got stuck in flwm (hehe), until I followed your tracks back to /etc/wm, and placed "openbox-session" there. My fault, I tried to introduce good old wmx in Fluppy. And now I've put your wm chooser out of commission
So you're not using the usual Puppy .xinitrc, eh?
Second question: how do I integrate another wm than the three you suggest ?
I'm not criticizing -- you really did a fabulous job with Fluppy. I like it a lot.
It's just me being curious, and trying to get back to my old groove!
Many thanks in advance.

jemimah?
Two more questions, if I may:
How would I give a separate function to each of the mouse buttons in FLWM?
At present, they all display whatever is in /.wmx
How would I reinstate desktop icons on the FLWM desktop? Change or copy PuppyPin manually?
Again, thanks in advance.
And have a great day!
