What programs would you like to see in Lucid Puppy 5.1?
What programs would you like to see in Lucid Puppy 5.1? These are programs that will be tested and configured for Lucid Puppy 5.1. They will then be available with a one-click install. Generally they will be built with Ubuntu binaries or compiled in Lucid Puppy--but the important thing is to get a solid program.
Please make requests and we will try to build the program. Or point us to an already existing build of the program. Big or small. Good programs that you find useful and you like to use.
These are the programs we already have available for one-click install in Quickpet and/or Puppy Package Manager. Thank you. (Sorry for not using columns.)
You can get the latest testing release luci-204 to see how it is working out. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=55740

Hi,
Thank you for the opportunity to have a say.
Using quickpet I added Firefox 3.6.3 to my 5.0.0 frugal installation. That was easy, but since only some users will want Firefox the existing quickpet seems ideal (though I do not understand how the future 3.6.4 and upwards would be best handled; especially if some users might want to keep say, 3.6.3).
Also, I added Wine 1.1.43 from the current quickpet and some of the Windows programs which work in Xubuntu 9.10 with Wine 1.0.1 do not work (at all or as well) with 1.1.43. I am trying to get KeyNote 1.6.5 to work perfectly using 1.1.43 (it was perfect using 1.0.1 and it had Gold rating with 1.1.24). My point is that, win or lose with KeyNote, I may want to keep 1.1.43 for ever.
Personally, I would quite like the latest version of Osmo either via 5.1 or a quickpet. Alternatively, if there is a Debian version could I just install that on top of the current version of Osmo?
My regards
PS Lucid Puppy works superbly well and it is fast, but suppose Firefox is included in 5.1, would it load faster than a quickpet installation of it?

I am in Lucid 204 and was very impressed with Inkscape

Used it to create this 'choose a Puppy image'

I was playing with that last night. I got it to install and run, but then I didn't know what to do next!compiz fusion
Yes. That was a mistake I now think--for 5.1 the programs will have a more generic name--such as Chromium-6, instead of Chromium-6.0.428.0.I do not understand how the future 3.6.4 and upwards would be best handled;

Wobbling your programs and switching to other desktops is about it reallybut then I didn't know what to do next!
and programs can disintegrate or go up in flames as you close them . . .
However a bit of frizzle fazzle is always fun. How about some hi intensity screen savers and another 3D game?
On a more serious note Wink or a screen recorder (there are two others in Ubuntu) but can not remember the names . . .

Stellarium might be something cool to add:
Had a go with ubuntu version in 204 it loads/works but for me it wasn't full screen and it crashed a few times.
http://www.stellarium.org/Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.
It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

well duhhh Gnome Desktop
yes I know its big but at least a .sfs so that its an option.
LXDE+Openbox
how about producing repo disks for download as well. This way those without active internet connections can have at least some extras.
GAMES +++++ anything, everything
a good Diablo 1,2,and 3/Sacred Gold clone would be cool. (this would be nice for other versions of puppy as well)

Hi,
There is a new free Windows version of Stellarium downloadable from http://portableapps.com/
I have found that many portable windows programs work using Wine though I have neither tried Stellarium nor looked for a WIne HQ report.
My regards
